I love walking around this park in the forest Marly-le-Roi. Desert du Retz offers some great monuments and has a supposedly excellent golf course.

This is an enjoyable and interesting place, but not open very often. It makes for a nice outing if you are in the vicinity of Chambourcy. However, prior booking is required.

Tours are in French only and last about one and a half hours. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk on uneven ground. Register ahead via email and be prepared to pay for tickets with cash. Books and postcards available for purchase.

Only open on jours de patrimoine most interesting park full of follies with an enthusiastic sort of local history society keen to share their knowledge (in French of course) some small musical groups performing in an ad hoc manner on the lawns
