Very large complex that has views over the valley and Silven. You can see why this fort was situated here as it's tucked away in a valley high on the hills. They are still excavating areas of this fort and I caught one of the archeologist talking about what they were finding and trying to preserve. There was also a dance group meeting near the entrance that afternoon. It is certainly worth a good walk around and gives you a feel for the size of some of these large forts. Not well sign posted, but I finally found it be continuing to go up the hillside when signs disappeared.

A very interesting, well kept site with a lovely view of the mountains. The staff were welcoming and helpful, particularly Sylvia who spoke good English and was very informative about the history of the fortress. I understand the artifacts from the fortress are in the local museum, which was closed on the day we visited. It would have been good to have seen those before our visit. Some artists' impressions showing how the buildings would have looked and a bit more information on the boards would have been good. More excavations are starting next year and we will definitely visit again. A lovely afternoon visit.

Not at all what I expected. Takes about 1 hour to wander around. Very friendly staff who allowed me in with my dog. Beautiful panoramic views and great if you take a picnic with you as there are plenty of benches. Would like the captions to be a little more informative and also the main site map would be nice to read in English.

Medieval Fortress once used for trading and observation purposes. At its premises there were town hall, church, observation towers, barracks, fire range for the army and stables. At the entrance there is a small museum with ancient artifacts and weapons from that time.
