The Old Elm is a landmark in Sliven. It is at one of the ends of the central promenade downtown, so it can't be missed. Huge tree, more than 1000 years old! It's commendable that the local people take so much care of that tree - a tiny garden with a few flower beds circle the giant.

The tree is dying... you should take a look at it as its still there. Once upon a time, there was a huge forest of such trees, now its just this last one. Kudos to the people of the city which made it a meeting point and a historical treasure.

You have to give it to the local people - first of all to preserve this bit of heritage and then to put it on the map as a place to see. Makes me wonder how many such trees have gone unnoticed in different parts of the world. Its an old tree just next to the City Hall at the beginning of the promenade. You can start your shopping from here.

Unfortunately the symbol of my home town was not alive when I visited the town last fall. I hope people of Sliven will make some monument to remember the tree and what it was for our history. За съжаление дървото не беше спасено и през септември 2019 вече беше без листа, много жалко, че не използвахме негови филизи за да засадим негови "деца" поне 1000 ...

It is one of the most enchanting experience to sit under this tree. It looks like a normal tree. But, the local people say that it has been there for about 1000 years. Well, that's something to look for while visiting the centre of the city.

This magnificent tree is over 1000 years of age. It is one of Sliven's symbols. It is a popular meeting point. Part of it's trunk is cemented just to be preserved. It is located in the city center and very easy to find. Don't miss to take a photo or a selfie.

The old elm was nominated for tree of the year about 2 or 3 years ago so people in Sliven seem to be proud of it.
