It was a great visit, we experienced -10 degree and fresh snowfall. It’s a small village with 30-35 households and a few homestays. You need to book them in advance if you are planning on staying there. The air is thin up there, so don’t do a lot of physical activities if you feel unwell. The cafe’s are mostly closed so you will get home cooked meals at the homestay you will stay. There is only one restaurant - Lara’s which is near the Buddha statue. The view is amazing from the top.

One cannot ask for more nature and beauty!!! On a clear day, the blue sky, snow clad peaks and the Buddha statue make a perfect click. Did it in July 2019, on my RE TB 500.
My only request to people would be to be a bit thoughtful before expecting too much from the home stays/ lodges in such places and writing sad comments. Imagine their lives at that altitude and so far away from even a remote place like Kaza.

I've been planning to visit Spiti valley since the last 3 years and Langza was on the top list to be, the Buddha statue located at a place from where it seems like he's taking a view of an infinite valley. This place is breath takin, I did stayed here at night (which would have been awesome as you can clearly see the milky way along the statue), there are guest houses there and a cafe or two. I had sea buckthorn tea at spaceship cafe located near the statue. Be there respect the place try a little donation and please keep the place plastic free, do not litter. It's an amazing place to be alone and meditate for a while.

This was my 3rd winter trip to Spiti. Twice earlier I've stayed at homestays at Kibber which are very basic. This time around we decided to explore a bit and decided to stay n Langza at Lara Tsering's Home stay and what a great decision that was! For friends travelling with me it was their first winter trip into Spiti and i had warned them of the harsh living conditions there during winter with no water, heating and spiti toilets. What came as a really pleasant surprise was the set up of this very comfortable homestay with 5 very well furnished bed rooms including tower room heaters, functional english toilets and even a library to spend the odd afternoon reading a book!!!
Lara's wife Cheri was very hospitable and ensured we had a very comfortable stay. From delicious home cooked meals, cozy beds, and most importantly no mobile network, we were so spoilt that we extended our stay there by one more night just to soak in the idyllic peace and quiet of the surroundings.
With less than 15 houses that make up the village, this is the perfect base to explore the surroundings which include the majestic statue of Buddha overlooking the village, a 30min drive up to Hikkim the worlds highest post office(4440m) and another 20mins further up the road to Komic which is the worlds highest inhabited village @ 4580m connected by a motorable road. What struck us all was that everyone we met in the village and the valley was smiling and happy and thats not something we are used to coming from Bombay.
To summarize, If you are looking for a remote winter destination with peace, tranquil and some adventure thrown in good measure, pack up your vehicle and head out to Langza you will not be disappointed!! Do call Lara to make a booking on +919418537689

About 15 km from Kaza, nestling in a Himalayan amphitheatre at a height of 14,500 feet, is a remote village named Langza. It is one of the highest villages in the world that can be reached via a motorable road. There are no star hotels here, only a quaint Himalayan homestay amidst the 30 odd houses that are home to its entire population of about 140 people. ⠀
⠀
A Buddha statue believed to be some 1000 years old, dominates the landscape, with snow-capped mountains in the background. And beyond this, you’ll find Langza’s main attraction – a Fossil Park littered with buried remains of prehistoric sea creatures! Fossils that conclusively proved that Spiti Valley was once under the Tethys Sea, and millions of years ago, when the Indian and Eurasian plates collided, the Himalayas emerged from this sea.⠀

Langza is most visited because of huge golden Buddha Statue facing the mountains overlooking the valley. You can spend as many days as per your convenience, from a single day to a week and this small village won't disappoint you. If look from outside you have nothing to do here but to know and experience Spiti at its maximum one should stay in village. Langza is traveler's paradise depending on ones interests ranging from clear night sky with milky way on no moon night, hunting sea fossil on your trek with locals and know its archeological significance, local cuisine, farming experience with villagers, a stroll around the village to experience and learn about local life and hardships, take small treks around to see wildlife (blue sheep, Ibex, Snow leopard etc.) and birds of the region, or just read a book and sip local herbal tea with beautiful view of Langza. You can also try meditating here, with no noise around it is comparatively easy to focus and spend some time alone which is not possible if you live in city.

We visited Langza on29 Aug. We had booked for two nights but had to come down to kaza on the second night. On 29 when we reached the homestay after a long journey there was no one at the homestay. Since it is harvesting season so people were busy in the field. After much searching we found someone to call the people of homestay from field.Lara had not informed his family about our stay and he was in kaza. We were charged 3500 per day for accommodation and food.the homestay is good, room clean and people in the house were friendly, food was ok . There was no light and solar lamps supported the homestay but when we asked for a bucket of warm water for bathing the next day we got a cold response. After much request we were provided a bucket to manage a shortcut bath.since we were travelling and long journeys on bad roads makes us tired so a bath is essential to freshen up but seeing the condition we decided to leave and stay the next night at kaza. We wanted to talk to Lara but were not given the chance and phone connectivity is nil there.

If you love nature and enjoy snow covered mountain peaks, this is the place to visit. Several homes provide stay facilities. People are very friendly, provides excellent hospitality. In small patches of land people cultivate peas.

Some places on earth are so amazingly beautiful and so surreal that you feel you have reached heaven even while you are breathing. Perched on an elevation of over 14,000 feet, this is one of the highest motorable villages in the world.
Located at Spiti in Himachal Pradesh, this place has history which goes about 500 million years ago; when this place was submerged under water (Tethys Sea) and rose to this great height when the two under water Tactonic plates collided, giving birth to the Himalayas.
The amazing part is that tgis is one of the few places on earth where you will find Sea animals' fossils.
The main attraction of this village is the coulourful Buddha Statue. This looks impressive.
For the Astro Lovers, the sky here offers one of the best view of Milky Way anywhere on this earth. The challange though is surviving the cold temperature and chilly wind. But the efforts is worth experiencing.
A true Heaven on Earth.

I'm planning to visit Langza at this January a solo trip is that is possible to visit there ?
Written December 4, 2018
Yes thats possible.
The Rohtang pass along with Kunzoum pass will remain closed becoz of snowfall at that time
Only access to spiti valley will be via Shimla Kinnaur road.
You can take share taxi from Reckongpeo to kaza or you can book your own cab or car.
Bus service is also available but that entirely depends upon weather and road conditions.
After reaching kaza you can stay there or at kibber village.

What is the best way to see and visit Spiti Valley? Through tour agency or book on your own?
Written August 9, 2018
You can do it on your own.. but need a good driver and car. It's easy to find the places to visit and book hotels.
