You could take the ropeway to the International Peace Pagoda, or take the walking trail to the top of Vulture Peak, depending on your fitness and enthusiasm.
The walking trail is paved, and a combination of steps and ramps. Takes about 45 min to ascend to the top, with some rest stops on the way. Water bottle sellers are plenty along the way. The path is open air, with limited/no shelter, so a hot or rainy day would make it a bad choice to attempt. Close to the top are 2 small caves with shrines and at the top is a square open air Buddha shrine with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and the Intl. Peace Pagoda in the adjacent mountain. The last leg of the ascent has uneven stone steps and would be hard for those with knee problems. There are carriers (team of 2 with bamboo poles and a carrying basket) that can be hired to haul you up to the top and back down for a fee.

This peak can be climbed in less than one hour from Rajgir. There is also a ropeway but that goes to a different nearby hill. It is shaped like a vulture's beak if you see it from a certain angle, hence the name vultures peak

The atmosphere at the top is amazing and very conducive to meditation. Many devotees come in the peak season to meditate.

There is a small shrine where the buddha used to sit and meditate, on base of the hut on the peak. There is also another ananda hut a little distance away. Below the peak there are ruins of a mauryan era monastery, a few caves notably those of Shariputra and Maudgalanya, lots of Tibetan prayer flags and so on. Those caves are also good for worshipping and meditating.

One nice way to gain some merit by cleaning the place, if it is dirty. Some people who come do not know the significance of the place and treat it as a picnic spot, especially in off season.

Better to come early in the morning when its cool and easier to climb.

One of the most historically significant places for all Buddhists to visit, where Buddha gave some of his most profound teachings. While not the easiest of climbs, it is not too strenuous and well worth the walk, which affords important opportunities to visit the caves and residences of Buddha's disciples. Besides the religious importance of this site, the views are stunning and well worth it!

This is one out of five peaks in Rajgir. Go here for hiking. On peak there are some temples of Buddhism. Nothing very special nor any natural beauty to see. In Buddhism there is a tradition to visit all five peaks. There is a temple of Shiva on the peak which is just beside the hot spring. People says that this temple is 5000 years old

the climb up to Vulture peak is quiet strenuous, but the path is clean, well maintained. its advisable to return before darkness sets in because there are no streetlights and that can be a little risky

Gridhakuta located at Rajgir's one of the hills, is Buddhist religious place. It is here that Lord Bhuddha meditated and carried out many sermons with his disciples. He lived here for few months after achieving the enlightenment in Bodhgaya. There is a small cave which is said to be used by Buddha. The view from the top is fantastic. The Buddha Sangh of Japan has constructed a huge Pagoda on the hill top called Shanti Stupa in honour of Lord Buiddha. It takes about 45-60 minutes (depending on your fitness level) to track the hill through the well laid stone path. There is a rope way which can take you to the hill top where Shanti Stupa is located. For those who feels hard to trek, the best way is to take the rope way up to Shanti Stupa and then come down to visit the Gridhakut. There are several restaurants and tea stalls at the base of the hill.
Best time to visit: October - March in the early morning to avoid heat.
Rope way timing: 0830 to 1700 hrs (Rs.60.00 return trip)
Location: 2-3 kms from Rajgir bus stand. Rajgir is 65-70 kms from Gaya.
Local transportation: Horse driven tanga
Getting there: Public/Private buses from Gaya (Manpur bus stand across the Fulgi river) takes 2 hours (Rs. 50.00)
Accommodation: Several budget & mid range hotels in Rajgir e.g. Hotel Diamond Plaze (above State Bank of India)

Place where Lord Buddha preached unmindful of the weather. The Japanese have built massive stupa - the shanti stup (peace Pagoda. It is fun to take the aerial chair car. The view is splendid

The hill is shaped like a vulture and the views from the top are spectacular and magnificent. Best time to visit is winter as summers/middays can have scorching heat.

This is the peak where devadatta (siddhattha's cousin), tried to kill lord buddha by falling big stone onto lord buddha. Though the stone missed, but it caused little injury on buddha's foot. You hv to climb quite high, about 30 minutes walk onto the peak. The track was also the same as when King Bimbisara wants to meet Buddha
