Horrible experience!
Totally understand that the chances of seeing a tiger was less. But we were on a canter in zone 5 and our guide Mr. Satish was pretty much useless.
He stayed silent the whole time and on his phone playing games! Totally unacceptable!
He gave no information about the park
Even the few animals we spotted , we saw only because we asked him what it was.
He was rude and asked everyone to stay silent so he could talk, so we all stayed silent and he didn't say a word. My kids went to sleep!
Another kid in the canter was genuinely excited and asking great questions, he flat out refused to answer!
Such a shame...
We went on a 2 hour safari the previous day at keolodeo national Park in Bharatpur, and our guide there was simply amazing!!! So informative and enthusiastic.
Ranthambore is sadly over commercialized.

This was my 2nd visit to ranthambore, tiger sighting is rare & you need to be lucky .. but yes regarding zones if i say go to buffer zones only like 1 to 5 and also zone 10 ,.. chances are high if you are in these zones, we were charged 11k for 1 safari in gypsy which includes 6 people in total. my honest opinion minimum 2 and maximum 3-4 is needed to spot tiger.

As we booked only a few days in advance the only option was the 20 seater or a private car. As both options were only in zone 10 with basically zero chance of seeing a tiger we chose the canter. Little did we know what horror awaited us.
Pick up was about 1 hour late. Seats were super uncomfortable for above average height people. Guide didn't utter a single word in English apart from one animal name and one beautiful bird she described as small bird. If she wouldn't have been there it wouldn't have made a difference. Driver was totally reckless. We were in fear of our lives. It took nearly an hour to get to the park and the drive was really horrible. He drove way too fast, no seat belts, very risky take overs and extremely bumpy all the way. The exhaust fumes were unbearable from the vehicle. My Fitbit recognised the drive as mountainbiking. Regarding the actual safari we saw more animals on the way than in the park. Zone 10 is a very boring and actually quite ugly area.
For us this was a total waste of our time and actually a painful experience. It was actually so bad that l refused to go on my second booked safari in zone 6 which would have been in the same vehicle.

Day 1 – Delhi to Ranthambore and the Tiger Reserve.
Only 6 of us from the main tour group going down to see the tigers.
A rest in today, as not getting the train down to Ranthambore till 12.30. So a leisurely breakfast and time to relax by the hotel pool.
Like our other trips we sorted out just 1 bag for the few days whilst at Ranthambore and leaving our other bag at the hotel. This worked very well.
Departed for the New Delhi train station Hazrat Nizamuddin which is just south of the main New Delhi mainline train station at 11.30, to get the 12.45. It’s a 5 ¼ hour train ride.
The hotel provided a packed lunch box for our journey. The lunch box was very substantial with sandwiches, doughnuts, fruit, nan bread, and fruit juice and water.
Our guide had all the seat and coach details and boarding of the train was straight forward. Quite a busy train.
The hotel in Ranthambore was set within the forest and reserve area. It was a very cosy, private set of 5 delux rooms, a fantastic pool with relaxing area and restaurant. Breakfast was served in the lounge area on a long table, which was just great. Lunch also served in this area. Dinner is around the wood burner outside area which was just brilliant. The food was perfect, tasty and loads.

Day 2 – Ranthambore Tiger Reserve
Started the day with the morning safari. So a early wake up around 05.30, with tea and coffee and biscuits available on the veranda outside the rooms. Departed on the safari jeep at 06.30, and then we went into the forest and zone 1 this morning.
No tiger sightings this morning, however some great scenic views along with deer, monkeys, and the odd croc by the water side. Also, some lovely colourful birds within the trees.
Back at the lodge by 10.00 where breakfast was all ready.
Then free time around the pool area till lunch.
After lunch off on the afternoon safari. This time zone 4. Great views, however, no tiger sightings. Not to worry as still got tomorrow’s afternoons safari to come.
Back to the lodge where high tea was waiting for us, which was great. Wash up after all the dust, and then yet another great dinner on the outside and fire pit around the pool area.

Day 3 – Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.
A rest in this morning and a leisurely breakfast. Then it was a 10.00 pick up in a private jeep to go visit the fort and the temple.
Back for lunch and a dip in the pool.
Then off on our 3rd tiger Safari. Zoom 6 this time. Different scenery, more deer, more monkeys, wild bore, however unfortunately no tiger. It’s the lick of the wild.
Anyway, back to our lodge, which was just perfect for yet another high tea etc. Dinner at 20.00 again seating around the fire pit and just perfect.

Day 4 – Ranthambore to Delhi
An early start with a departure at 05.30. Made a stop at the main hotel to settle our respective bills whilst at the lodge. Also picked up our breakfast box and then off to the station to get the 7.20 back to Delhi.
Arrived around 12.30 and back to the Metropolitan Spa for lunch and collect our other left behind bags.
After lunch got a tuktuk to the Lodhi gardens and had a walk around and a visit to the ruins in the park. Then back to the hotel for an hour around the pool and just sorting out our bags ready for the return flight back to the UK the next day. Checked in via the virgin airlines app so all set.

I used jungle safari india to book my safari and I was most disappointed - not because I didn’t get to see a tiger BUT because they give you incorrect advise ! They want to fill up their safari gypsy and canters after the initial ones have been booked so they will LIE to you about which zone is best etc !
I hated that lack of transparency , let me know that the particular zone is not so hot and they are recommending it because a private vehicle is possible in a few zones due to lack of availability BUT DONT LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS . That’s a no go !!

In any case , talking about ZONES !
Try and go for 1-5 !!
6-10 are the new zones and this agency gave us 8 .
Now if you are going for a safari to make SURE that you don’t want to see a bird , don’t want to see any langur , you don’t want to see a green tree , you basically don’t want to see any signs of life on this planet - then pleaseeee visit ZONE 8 ! I promise you that it’s that dull and mundane lol .

Long story short - go for private vehicle or canter but try and hit zone 1-5 ! Book wellll in advance and you should be good ! Book at least 2-3 safari’s to increase your chances of seeing a tiger .

Btw I got to spot a beautiful tigress Aishwarya - T99 , this morning at zone 10 . It’s a matter of luck but at least zone 1-5 is full of life .

Honesty regarding pricing and likelyhood of seeing animals.
We went on January and saw nothing other than some deer and monkeys.

Zones according to guide don't mater.
Agencies and hotels control the safari tickets. Agencies host websites that look like the national park official website but are them instead.

Electricity pilons throughout the jungle which is not picturesque. Best left to nature and avoided.

Summer may be best to go as heat may bring tiger yo the streams but you can only go morning and afternoon to park
Tigers roam mostly at night.

No cordination with rangers. Big noisey trucks drive through the park scaring all animals. Trip needs to be planned in advance. Accommodation is very expensive and poor quality

We are extremely satisfied with the service. The pick up and drop off to Jaipur went very smooth. Driver was excellent and he showed us many things on the way to Ranthambore. Safari was amazing, we were lucky to see a tiger on our first and only Safari.

I traveled to Ranthambore National Park along with my friends and had a time of my life, not only the tigers but the entire wildlife and stay experience was out of this world, thanks to Sourabh from TravelGleam Wild.

Sourabh (9958993316 , 9899954675) was wonderful to deal with, as all our safari and hotel bookings were done well before time and absolutely hassle free. The entire trip went very smoothly and we had an amazing three days in wild.

We did four safaris and sighted tigers on three of the safaris (Noorie- T105, Sultana- T107 and Ladli- T8) and the highlight of the trip was Ladli- T8 whom we sighted for almost 45 minutes in Zone 6.

Lastly, a special thanks to Sourabh and his team at TravelGleam Wild who answered all our questions, responded to all our queries very professionally. His immense knowledge and insights about Ranthambore are exceptional, thanks.
