In early March, 2020, 3 of us summitted Margarita Peak through Rwenzori Trekking Services, led by Bosco and Robert and had a phenomenal experience hiking through Kilembe Trail. I had never done something like this before, but had an incredible time and felt well taken care of throughout the trip. I would highly recommend RTS for anyone hoping to hike in the Rwenzori's or summit Margarita Peak.

My wife and ten year old son did a three day trek in the Rwenzori Mountains with Rwenzori Trekking Services. Our guides Dan and Yosam were AMAZING! They were so knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend getting a porter to help carry anything that you bring. Our porters were super strong and sweet. A cook is also sent on the trip with you and the food is pretty good - huge portions! We were so taken care of by this crew.

The hike up was moderately challenging for us, as it is steep and we live in Florida where almost everything is at sea level. However, you can of course stop and take breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We saw a great lakes pit viper on the way up which was of exciting. We stayed one night in Sine Camp and one night in Samalira camp.

Back to guides Dan and Yosam - a special thanks to them! Our son wanted to go much faster than us and Dan was with him and took great care of him. My wife is super cautious and therefore slow on the descent and Yosam was so patient and helpful with her. We highly recommend this expereince - and ask for Dan and Yosam!

I haven't done many big hikes/treks before but I feel as if I am in an elite group now. Did an 8 day hike up to Margherita peak. It was a technical climb to summit the peak but the rest of the trip was not. Only about 2000 people visited the park last year with less than 700 people submitting Margherita peak. This place is off the beaten path. Gorgeous surreal scenery. Screeching Rock Hraxes at night. What else could you ask for? Go in the dry season. There will be mud.

We did a three day hike in the Rwenzoris with the guides Stephen and Karusu, and the porters Monica, Nelsom and Geoffrey. It was an absolutely amazing adventure! The fauna and flora of the Rwenzoris are really unique and stunning, and our guides were able to tell us about every single plant, flower and animal we saw. This made it a really enriching experience! We were lucky enough to see several red duikers, rock hyraxes and many beautiful birds. Moreover, the guides were really good at planning and adapting the trek to our fitness level, and made it a very memorable experience! They also gave great advice on how to adapt our clothing to the weather and terrain, in addition to cooking really good food for us.

Visiting the Rwenzori Mountains National Park was a real highlight of our trip to Uganda. We stayed at Rwenzori Trekkers hostel and took the 3 day trek along the Kilembe trail. The guides were outstanding, friendly and incredibly informative. We were really impressed by the work going on to engage with the local communities that surround the national park. The accommodation and food served throughout the trip was great and helped to fuel our walks! Rita on reception was a star and helped us to arrange transport after our stay. Would recommend checking out Kasasse’s natural hot springs about 15 minutes drive from the hostel!

RRHA has been wonderful throughout: they answered all our questions, helped us choose between the Central Circuit and the lesser hiked Bukurungu Trail, hired an experienced and enthusiastic guide, and a talented chef who provided food and drinks for us four times/day. We hiked the trail in 7 days (without summit) and wouldn't want to do it in any other way. Trekking the Rwenzoris wasn't technical but it was pretty challenging in other ways (lots of ups and downs, mud, gum boots...). We've had rain twice: a quick shower once and heavy rain the second time. Would have been miserable if it had rained heavily every day. The views were fantastic!

I took a six day hike through the mountains of the moon in Uganda. This place is gorgeous! It is unspoilt and a must go for anyone who loves pristine destinations. Our guide Francis from Kwezi Outdoors and the team of the porters were great and fantastic. From the time we made the inquiry they were there. Arriving at a new destination can be unsettling even for seasoned traveller but having a meet up at the airport, and staying together throughout the safari hike is so so good.

On the hike, were supported and guided -- no question was too big or small for Francis - very knowledgable guide. It was nice to have real toast and hot food up high in the mountains forests on the equator. Felt surreal and kindda out of the world.
For all the mountains I have climbed in include this in the must do.

Absolutely stunning mountain range with beautiful hiking options. Did a 7 day central circuit hike with 2 professional local guides. Thanks to 6Summits for organizing the trip from start to finish. Margarita peak is a true challenge and the whole route offers beautiful views, forests, swamps, Rocky Mountains and nice huts on the way.

I am just back from a Rwenzori trek of 9 days with Rwenzori trekking services. I have been trekking in the Rwenzori 7 or so time in in the last 8 years using both Rwenzori Trekking Services (RTS) and Rwenzori Mountaineering Service (RMS). I go there for research, but I also love mountain climbing, so I can give a good review of the mountains and the companies.
First, the mountains are spectacular. Rainfall is much higher here than on other East African mountains, so the vegetation is very lush and beautiful. There are many alpine lakes, more wildlife than you will see in many other mountains, and very interesting geology and glacial history. The mountains are steep, and yes, they are muddy, but if you are a fan of mountains and planning a trip to Uganda this place is a must.
There is a lot of discussion of the two companies operating trekking services in the mountains. Having used both multiple times (including RTS last week), I can provide some comparisons.
First, RTS offers a much larger trail network- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, up to 9 or more night trips are available for many different skill levels. The RMS network is not as well developed- the central circuit is 6 nights for hiking, 8 or 9 for climbing the high peaks.
Second, the service at RTS is much, much better. The food is better, lunches are always provided, and the guides are much better trained. This becomes particularly important if you are climbing the high peaks. The RTS huts are well maintained, and the company will arrange for transport, lodging, and even safaris to other parks.
Finally, RTS is typically about 2 or 3 times less expensive than RMS. This is a major factor.
If you are going for a short hike, I would certainly use RTS. If you are climbing the peaks, I would probably also use RTS, as their guides are more knowledgeable.
