This observatory is located in a beautful forest . Unfortunately it's not maintained but if you get a chance for star gazing , the experience would be really great .

The kavalur Observatory is situated amidst beautiful forest range. On a clear night you can have an excellent vision of the planetary bodies in our galaxy. The Observatory is open for public only on Saturdays.

It is NOT a tourist place. There are no restaurants or eatery nearby. It is open for public only on Saturday and one should reach there by 6 PM. Entry is permitted only after 6.45 PM and till then you have to hang around near...More

This observatory is approximately 10 kms from the nearby village of Jamunamarathur. Though the observatory is praised for its largest telescope, public viewing is restricted to a 6" telescope through which you can never experience the effect of star-gazing. not very well maintained- lot of beehives-be careful can get beestings - scenic drive - but should go in group- not sure about the safety security of travel- little beyond there is a tribal village - jawadi hills - supposed to be beautiful.
