The Vellore fort is an archaeological structure which reminds us the grandeur of the past. The outside of the fort is well preserved. A nostalgic visit for tourists interested in history.

The rampart walls and moat are impressive and the size of the property is amazing. However, if you are used to detailed history and interpretation, you will be disappointed. Gazing at the massive and well preserved walls left me wanting to know much more about what daily life in and around the fort must have been like through history. The... More

It was rapid though journey way back in future to see a ground fort withall surrounding water which was quite deep. Fort walls are still standing with elegant and stood true to test of time. I saw its pic in my hotel room which tempted me to place within busy city area. It's really nice to see marvel of architecture.

The fort was built by Vijayanagar kings, once rules by Marathas as well, in the end it was taken over by britishers. A good spot to visit if your in vellore. It is easily accessible as it is located in the heart of the city.

The fort is situated in the heart of the city but is very poorly maintained. It's very difficult to climb the fort through a narrow pair of steep steps. The top of the fort gives a view of the moat that is again very poorly maintained. There's shrubs everywhere, no guide, an old map of the area which you can't... More

Vellore fort is a very good place for the people who love historical places. Fort was build by vijayanagara samrajyam kings on 1560 century. Inside the fort there was a temple calledJaladesswara temple. It was one of the old temple in tamilnadu. No words will enough to to explain the Architecture of temple.

If you have been to forts in the Northern parts of India, this will be an absolute let down. The USP of this fort really is the moat. There is a huge one surrounding this fort complex on 3.5 sides. One is led to imagine how the moat would have dissuaded or slowed down advancing invaders in the past. Looking... More
