Our Torugart Pass trip from Kashgar to Naryn, through many China passport checks, went without a hitch thanks to the organisation of Old Road Tours. Communication was clear and prompt from initial contact to departure.

Hi, I just came back from Kashgar with my wife. Originally we planned to stay overnite at Karakul Lake but were told by our guide (Old Road Tours) that the authorities do not allowed overnites at Yurts anymore because of security reasons. Unless you have plans to trek around the lake, I think an overnite stay is not necessary. Infact we did not regret it after disovering that toilet facilities are non existence. It's better to bring some food with you and have a short picnic while enjoying the sceneries and from there proceed to Tashkorgan for an overnite instead. Views from the lake to Tashkorgan are impressive, if you love mountains that is. We left Kashgar at 9am and reached Tashkorgan by 5pm.
