There are some amazing parks and really beautiful waterfalls. The great thing is there was not many people. The ferns and vegetation are rich and green, lots of bamboo also. Water lovely and very fresh and spectacular waterfalls. Pleasant walks and very nicely laid out. Definitely worth the journey to get there if you enjoy nature. Driving through the Guizhou countryside and past all the rice fields is truly picturesque. People very friendly.

Very easily reached from the main bus station in chishui, just show the always helpful Chinese a picture or say 'shizhangdong' and you'll get shown onto a bus that costs 12 yuan. The entry cost is 90 but for some unclear reason we got in for 45 each.. There are two ways to the waterfall, a scenic path (which was unfortunately shut when we were there) or the road that the buggies go along (cost 10 or 15 each way). We walked there along the road and then through some bush down a staircase and it was well worth it, the waterfall is very impressive and the area itself very scenic. Make sure to make your way around all the different viewpoints at the base (there are 3 or 4).

Chishui Great Waterfall, also known as Shizhangdong Waterfall, is located in the south of Chishui City, Guizhou Province, upstream of Fengxi River, a tributary of Chishui River, about thirty kilometers from Chishui City. With a height of 76 meters and a width of 80 meters, Shizhodong waterfall is the largest waterfall on the Danxia landform in China.

For Chishui in general, we noticed it's very unknown. Just visited in the Mid Autumn holiday which is supposed to be busy, but literally found no one around us, so quiet! But yet so beautiful, would definitely recommend Chishui. FYI, we live in Shanghai and speak just a little Chinese.
To start: go to these main waterfalls, there pretty amazing! And you will find a tourist map there with easy explanations about the area. Then you'll know what's around, since there is really a lot but all have different names in the LP, internet, pinyin, chinese.. a bit confusing.
We did Sidonggou, Chishui waterfalls, Bamboo sea (Suoluo park), Cyathea reserve (next to Bamboo sea, same entrance).
For some you need a driver. We were so lucky to meet this driver called Nie Qiang which was super reliable, a good driver, very nice and had good prices. His contact for wechat is: 1858577577. Would highly recommend him:)
We stayed in Chishui in the Qingshui hotel, perfect for this trip. very friendly staff and clean, western rooms and beds.
Went for food almost twice a day at Wutong, which was opposite of the hotel, nicely along the river. (when you exit hotel turn left, same street, it's on your rightside).
Chishui: hidden gem, stunning nature, very well organized parks, easy to reach from our Luzhou airport.
Have a good trip!

The waterfalls and the surroundings are amazing and we'll worth visiting. It's of the grit so you won't see a lot of tourist. But pads are well maintaind. And it will be very popular in a couple of years...
Buses tot the waterfall can be found across the main bus station. Just show the name of the waterfall. The people are very kind (happy to see foreigners) and helpfull and will make sure you get to your destination.
Taxi in the city is standard 7 Yuan. From chonqing it's a 4 hour bus drive, highway we'll maintaind.
We stayed in Hanting express who accepts foreigners.
This was one of the best places we went to in whole China!

Apart from the 4 Sidonggou Waterfalls at Chishui (covered under "Sidonggou Waterfall"), this review focuses on the Grand Waterfall (also called the Great Waterfall) of Chishui. It was a windy day and as one approached the waterfall after walking through a hallway lined with large photos, water drops from the waterfall came pouring all over the body (and over the camera). It was very difficult not to get wet and was very hard to take a photo (the lens got wet within a second). Nevertheless it was a very popular venue; despite the wetness the visitors seemed to be immersed in fun. Worth seeing.

Wonderful place. There are a lot of beautiful parks and waterfalls around Chishui, which are not crowded with tourists. These places are not so well known among the tourists at least now. That's why don't hesitate to travel there. At the local bus station you may take a bus to every pak you would like to see. We took at the hotel a small map with rotes, pointed at the station on the place we want to go to, took the bus and that's all. You don't need to speak Chinese. All you need is a rote map with pictures! I really want to go there again! ❤
