Boring and shameful
May 2018 • Friends
Not worthy at all to come here. A lake with nothing worthwhile seeing. A slow public boat offers trips to 2 islands and 2 villages. Absolutely junk! These little "islands" are empty! These "villages" are few empty destroyed neglected houses with no one there (except 2 stalls).
Totally shameful that they offer such "tour" and ask money for it.
Avoid this place by all means!

Relaxing boat ride
Jul 2016 • Friends
I visited the lake in July with a group of friends. I advise you to take the boat ride because there isn't anything else to see or do there, but it is an additional cost. I want to say it was 60 rmb per person.

The boat ride is relaxing. It takes you to 3 small islands. The islands have short trails so you can explore it a little more, but the time is limited so you can't go very far.
The first two island you stop at (turtle and snake) you only have about 15 minutes. Then the boat takes you a third island where the bridge and bell tower are located. I think you have about 30 minutes for this stop. There is a restaurant there, and few vendors with street food, drinks and ice cream. We did not have time to ascend the bell tower, but the bridge is nice. They are in the photographs for the website.

After visiting that island, the boat will take you to the last island where you might be able to visit an ethnic village. The day we went, we couldn't visit it, but there really isn't much to do there otherwise. I think that island has a carousel and a few carnival type games.

Overall, I enjoyed the day. Would I do this again, no. Once is enough. I was not overly impressed with the islands although it was nice to be able to do a little exploring.

Very picturesque

need own transport, public transport is available but very difficult for English speakers and takes too long. Compared to the busy Chinese Centres of trade, it is a welcome place for reflection.

Not worth the trip
Oct 2011
While it looks like this place was at one point supposed to be a major attraction, it is now in major disrepair. The ticket you by to enter includes all locations that must be reached by boat, which can be costly if you are a small group (we negotiated to 300 RMB). However, none of the attractions were very interesting. The islands were vacant for the most part and our Chinese tour guide even was confused as to why some of the locations (the Miao Village) was a destination. The whole place looked like it was in foreclosure. It was definitely not worth the trip.
