Ouyang Xiu was a great scholar/official during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126). Eight Imperial tombs from this dynasty are in and around Gongyi, while this tomb is near Xinzheng in Henan Province. I've lived in Xinzheng for over 10 years, and had a hard time finding the place. It is in the neighborhood of Peiligang Village, the type site for the Neolithic Peiligang Culture. This is strictly for the serious historical enthusiast, as there is little to see besides a gate, several buildings where Ouyang Xiu is honored, a garden area, two burial mounds, and some stone tablets for family member burials. I did not see anyone on duty, but there was no one to stop me from going inside and looking around. It was all pleasant solitude inside. Local farmers were using the parking lot outside to dry grain. I suspect I was the first foreigner they had seen there. The tomb is in the country about a half hour from Xinzheng, but perhaps less if you don't get lost.
