We dropped in here after a stopover en-route from Shenyang to Dandong and at first, I admit, I was a little underwhelmed. It seemed a little too much like an opportunity to cash in on the success of traditional villages and street networks which capture an historic feel of China, however the newer construction gives it too much of an articicial feel. That said, we rented little pedal-powered four-wheelers and took a ride around. Certainly, the layout suggests it will be better to visit later in spring or summer as it remained a little barren after the harsh winter. It is certainly an expansive area, with mountain and country scenery to take in, fruit growing facilities, pleasant lakes, a movie studio and numerous little boutique stores (many serving the kind of ubiquitous tourist fare you'll see across the region). Still, the people were warm and friendly and there was still plenty to see and do and my children each came away with a toy that delighted them. A small shop on one of the side streets had an archery set up and was selling beautiful Mongolian style horse bows and again, the boys had a great time using the bows and I'll admit i came very close to buying one (the prices were reasonable, in fairness, not as expensive as I'd have expected). We're planning another trip to this part of the world later in the year, so may well come back and see how much better it is when in the full flow of tourist season.…

In summer the fruits trees are ripe all over the hill.You could climb the hill and pick them up.Local people would love to invite you to have dinner with them and live for one night to experience the local life.The price is very reasonable.Also here is a movie making place.Many movies were made here.…
