An amaaazing place! Takes hours to reach the top but worth every bit of it. You'll have to spend quite a lot of money once inside though. And do go for the slipway(a ride kinda thing) it is wohoooo! And the cable car ride gives a breathtaking view. It's the best to go during autumn.

Great views with challenging hiking....but the crowds!!!
Jul 2016 • Couples
An amazing place with great views and hiking that in many places would be considered treacherous and dangerous. It really is exciting and quite the experience. The down side is because of the many narrow paths and stairways going up and down the spine of the mountains the crowds can get extremely backed up with many delays. Add in the lack of patience and respect for lines of other travelers it can make for a stressful and difficult experience. If you get off the main path and walk the new trail built into the side off the mountain this is a much more enjoyable experience. I would recommend this attraction just for the amazing views and hopefully my review will help you be better prepared for the crowded areas.

Summer break climb
Aug 2016 • Family
The facility has increased the safety for the public, physically demanding. Come up with the cable car, then walk over the old cow back, to reach the top. Fun if you like to be physically challenged, but avoid peak season, as the passage way could stall by too many tourists

Not much foreigners here .
Its about 30 mins from Dandong (if im not wrong). We heard from Chinese ppl said this mountain isreally beautiful especially Autumn.
But we had time only during summer .

Phoenix mountain (English's name ) wont disappoint you . It worth to go .

At the top (only half way) they have a glass floor which is you can see down there . But you have to pay more 5 RMB to just step in ..... about only 20 meters.

Well,i hope you guys enjoy it

P.S 50 RMB for cable car

I have just visited this mountain and finished the climb. I was by far the oldest there(70 years old). If you are not fit and scared of heights then don't consider doing this. Its quite spectacular and the engineering to make a route up and down the mountain is incredible. There is literally a staircase down this 850 metre mountain. Going up however is not easy. Small steps cut into the mountain with guard rails, narrow passages through splits in the mountain stone and at times a very steep is what you can expect. I could not believe they allow small children on this climb. We easched the glass bridge near the top which is quite fantastic and the views well worth the climb. Somehow I think such a climb like this would not be allowed in Europe as the health and safety people would never allow it. If you like a challenge then do it. Take the bus to the bottom of the cable car and don't be tempted to take the cable car. You will miss half of the fun.

Climb if you have the guts!
This mountain is cool crazy dangerous challenging as hell! If you're up for the challenge, you should definitely climb this one! Remember of having proper equipments like gloves and water because it's gonna be a long long trip. There are some parts where you are on the edge of falling like in the Ox Back part, but as long as you move forward and be careful you should be fine. I'm a total beginner but I survived. Love it so much!
Tip: if you're not sure you have a sufficient physical stamina, don't do it. You can climb it until a certain point where it's still possible to go down but when you reach the place of one by one person climbing, there's no turning back.

Beautiful views of China and North Korea
Sep 2010
Living in Dalian this is a favorite visit with all of our out of town visitors. Two hours from Dalian, the great wall is amazing to walk along. You feel very remote as very few visitors come to this area. Just the occasional tourist bus or car. At the top however, you can buy popsicles and water. If you come back down the other (eastern) side, it's a bit adventurous with steep areas with steel pipes to assist you, a swinging bridge, and pagodas. If you pass beneath the wall you will find small motorized boats to ride along the border of China and North Korea. The second time we rode a fence had been put up to assure people stayed on the correct side. The ride gives quite beautiful of the eastern side of the mountain.
