The 2 km walk uphill from Villetta Barrea was worth it. Little but neat village, lovely views. I loved the museum of the Apenine wolf, coming back in the summer with the kids for a day trip with picnic

A charming mountain village with small shops, historic interest and friendly people. Perfect for exploring the trails around.

This is a charming city nestled in the hills of the national park of Abruzzo. The people were warm and friendly. The city was clean and nicely organized. In the summer there are film festivals and other events that are in the open air. There was even a park which housed wolves in the city center. If you love animals, beautiful nature and great food you will love this town. We surely did. We plan in going back in a month!

I believe Civitella Alfedena was a gift arrived down here from somewhere, a special place where to rest or make friends, where to enjoy great food or spend the time of your life walking, skiing, trekking. I have spent here almost all my summers, winter and mid-year school holidays with my two children. It was the best time vere for me and them, away from the big town, never alone nor lonely. People are so kind and helpful, and yet also very respectful and smiling to all our little maniac town-like behaviour.
