Beautiful nature reserve within the Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise National Park. We visited in March and the weather was mild; snow was still seen on the peaks. Our group was led by local guides who made all the difference, explaining things that you will not find easily in any guide book. If you like trekking in places like this, allow yourself plenty of time.
Facilities like toilets and cafes were not open - maybe it was out of season, maybe due to Covid? A popular site like this could perhaps at least try to keep its toilets available to visitors.

We arrived at Camosciara around noon. Very organized, it cost 4EUR to get in with the car. There are a number of options to get to the upper part were the waterfalls are: train; horse; bike or by foot. We only realized this after doing the train tour, so the kids went up again on horse back ride which was well-worth it. The base has a nice cafe and a playground for kids. You could also just pick nick/BBQ if you have your own food. Highly recommended as the views were just stunning and it was simply fun to hang around with the family.

we headed to the famous camosciara the only day we were in Villetta, and I can confirm that we will return. a charming place, a fairytale, you walk in front of the waterfalls, you can rent bicycles or take a beautiful train. fawns meet, and often beautiful waterways meet. the parking of € 4 is worth doing all this, a day of the best of my life. we'll be back from Detroit. lovely to visit absolutely if you love nature. Easy walk to camosciara . We did it with our 4 mintha baby and the trolley without any issues. Less than 1 hour walk. Beatiful landscape, you can see some animals if youvare lucky.
Worth the walk in nature and also to take great pics.

I like this trail, from Civitella Alfedena to La camosciara: the trail takes 3,0 hours round trip (200 mt level change). You pass trough beautyful trees, and bush, wit the Mountains scenario. When you arrive you see the wonderful Camosciara Mountains group: uf you are lucky you will see, far away, the wild Camosci (chamoix).

If you planned to visit National Park of Abruzzo you cannot miss this traditional walk well marked on map. You must park your car (few € for full day) and you can go by walk or rent a bike or an horse or use the small train for children.
We visited that on 1st weekend of June 2013 and we enjoyed very much the beautiful waterfalls at the top of the mountain that you can reach after 45 min of fast walk.
To reach them you must overtake a gentle but long slope and so I don't suggest to do it if you are not at least sufficient sporty with good walking shoes.
We didn't like very much just the first part of this walk cause of an asphalted street not very matching with natural landscape all around. Plus we saw nice domestic horses but no deers or other savage animals. Honestly I found a bit more "natural" the Val Fondillo's walk located near to Camosciara.

Well marked trekking excursions in a beautiful area of mountains, streams and valleys. The area is so large with plenty to do, that you tend not to meet too many other people. When you do come across fellow excursionsits, they greet you politely, and you can ask how far to the next resting spot, the top of the hill etc. Depending on time of year, there will be many flies, but if you find a nice breezy spot for your picnic, it should be fine.

Great spot, great organization, superb view, even excellent food at the coffee shop at the top station of the train. Only negative issue was the lady at the counter who behaved very very rudely to us and to other customers.

Visited a week before the main tourist season started. Very quiet. very enjoyable 3 kilometre walk up to the end of a tarred road. Couldn't go any further because of the weather (rain). There's a small cafe/shop at the top of the road. Good cofee and cakes. Went back the next week. Completely different! Lots of people about. There is transport to the top of the road during the tourist season. We went there primarily to look for orchids. Didn't have to look far. They are everywhere. we found 10 species without trying.
