- Tiffany Y.Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania22 contributionsBeautiful tropical setting, both common and unique animals4.5 stars. This zoo is set among tropical plants, a waterfall, and ruins of old buildings, so it is very scenic. The animals include jaguars, monkeys, raccoons, turtles, iguanas, flamingos, lorikeets, parrots, butterflies, and many others. The animals’ enclosures looked to be a decent size and in good condition. A gift shop sold nice souvenirs. There, I bought local snack foods, hand soap, and a lovely carved wooden bird.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 20, 2023
- N V17 contributionsFun outing with fair price.Fun zoo, admission was 17 or 18 euro per adult a far price for the exp. Friendly informative staff lots of cool animals and plants and exhibits to see. Built on an old sugar plantation or processing site lots of old sugar milling equipment around with info about the machines and process of growing and processing sugar on the island. Took us about 2 hours to see all they had too offer.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 23, 2023
- @acoupleflightsOntario, Canada327 contributionsGreat visitWe were looking for a break from the sun and heat and this was such a great stop. It was very shady and breezy. So many animals amongst the ruins of Latouche dating back to 1643. Wooden bridges, aviaries and waterfalls surround the property. So much to see and was very quiet when we visited.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2024

We have visited this zoo regularly since its creation. During our last visit we deplored the disappearance of animals which brought joy to everyone. Of the raccoons that were once so numerous, to which we could give food provided by the zoo, only 2 remain. Of the blue-headed lorikeets which swarmed in the large aviary, which we could also feed, there are less than 10 left, butterflies which animated the aviary in all seasons, none remain. And finally the restoration has also disappeared. The visit is cut short due to lack of taking advantage of the antics born from the large groups.
Frankly, for an adult rate of €17.50, it is better to spend a full day with catering, in Doué la Fontaine or Beauval.
We chose to rate 3 because the beauty of the gardens somewhat makes up for the animal disappointment.
But for the price you might as well go visit Balata

Bonjour Monsieur,
Bien cordialement,
L’équipe du zoo

Martinique Zoo, located on the northwest coast of the island, between Carbet and Saint-Pierre, is located in a valley amid the remains of the Latouche dwelling, which dates from 1643. It hosts animal species from all over the world, but is above all a reflection of the rich biodiversity of the Lesser Antilles. You can see monkeys, jaguars, pumas, lorikeets, great anteater, racoons... and many others, thanks to a course in the middle of nature. Concrete walkways allow easy traffic, accessible to all. The walk is also an opportunity to discover the remains of the main house and the equipment of the cassava, indigo, and of course sugar and rum workshops
An ideal place to discover the history of Martinique and its rich biodiversity. A beautiful walk to discover the history of the island and its biodiversity, a pleasant moment for young and old.

This is more than a Zoo, friendly staff, an experience younger to do on your own lime a little adventure by just following the signs. I was so exited and happy to see an anteater and do many other animals I didn't know of. My daughter was inlove with the flamengoes. Although each are not in their born region the staff and team place each cresture in a home like environment for comfort and a stressless life experience. Its more than what I expected. We got to see enchant pirate wepons and stuff;the way people leaved thousands of years ago. Thank you for the learning experirnce.

Magnificent zoo in an exceptional setting. It is one of the most beautiful zoos seen so far. Lots of animals with explanations written on signs. I wanted to give 5 stars but took one away for the attitude of the staff. Apart from the reception where the young girl was very friendly, none of the staff met during the visit deigned to respond to our hellos. In high season I would understand but that day there weren't many visitors. Too bad but doesn't take away from the beauty of the zoo.

Everything was perfect. Welcoming, respect for nature and respect for animals. An enchanting setting with greenery everywhere, surrounded by little touches in every corner. Not a large zoo in terms of surface area but a beautiful course with nice descriptions of each place. The animals seemed well cared for and not unhappy. If I lived in the area, I would be there 3-5 times a year.

The zoological park is located in an old village. We discover the history of the animals and the ruins throughout the visit which is an interesting concept. My park is very beautiful, the animals adorable.
The staff is very pleasant.
Little extra for the butterfly place 🦋
I recommend this site!

The Zoo de Martinique is unlike any other zoo I've ever visited - so much so that the name is almost misleading. It's as much a botanical garden and historic site as it is a zoo. The setting is so lovely and interesting that the animals are almost secondary to the experience. The place is built around the ruins of Habitation Latouche, a 17th-century plantation that was destroyed in the 1902 volcanic eruption. Many of the stone and metal vestiges are still visible, such as the aqueduct and windmill, and are somewhat atmospherically overgrown. Surrounding the ruins of the plantation is a beautifully landscaped botanic garden (by the same Jean-Philippe Thoze who designed the Jardin de Balata). There's a single route through the zoo - a meandering but generally circular, one-way route, which makes it impossible to get lost or disoriented. At several points the path crosses over a river or ravine, sometimes via wooden bridge and - to my sons' delight - sometimes via a sturdy but swinging suspension bridge. I would have happily paid simply to walk through the gardens and the old habitation - but of course there's also the zoo. There's not a huge variety of animals - and don't expect any large African animals like giraffes or elephants - but those that were there were active and interesting and had lovely spacious and well-designed exhibits. Lots of different types of monkeys, all quite active and fun to watch; a few large cats (pumas, jaguars); lots of bright tropical birds; some reptiles (tortoises, iguanas, caiman, snakes) and a few others such as kangaroos, capybaras, and raccoons (the raccoons were surprisingly entertaining). We may have just been fortunate at the time we visited (late afternoon) but nearly all the animals were awake and active. As if all this weren't enough, at the end of the loop is a small pirate museum with various exhibits, dioramas, videos, etc. This was such a hit with our boys that - like the garden and the ruins - it almost would have been worth going for that alone. Right past the pirate museum is La Lanterne restaurant, which gets excellent reviews but which is only open for lunch and was closed when we passed by (though they did let us purchase some ice cream). Really pleasantly surprised at what an interesting, enjoyable experience it was for the whole family, and for many reasons quite apart from the "zoo".

Ich habe Ihre Frage erst jetzt gelesen. Wahrscheinlich hat sich die Antwort bereits erledigt. Ich glaube es waren etwa 30 Minuten Fahrzeit sobald man Fort de France verlassen hat.
