After making precise telephone arrangements well in advance with the owner, Baron Platania, with my group of friends we had been on time for the agreed appointment for the visit. All good on the outside, although the descriptions from the owner had been minimal and almost listless. Something more was expected in the historical explanation and anecdotes of the place. But the real negative surprise was when we were denied the visit inside the "castle", in the upper noble halls, which instead on the phone had been taken for granted. Basically, we paid 25 euros each for the visit of the outer courtyard alone, the underground warehouses and to see a 5-minute video about the setting of Francis Ford Coppola's film. The visit overall would be interesting, but I recommend making precise arrangements with the owner that include the main floor and pay ONLY when the visit is completed, including the upper noble rooms. Otherwise 25 euros is an exaggerated amount.

Our favorite excursion in Sicily was the Godfather Tour by Alessio at Sicily Grand Tour. He is well connected and an expert on the Godfather movies. He took us to the "Castle" where some important scenes were shot. He and the "Baron" whose family has owned the property since 1544, showed us the whole place. They passionately told us how in 1971, Paramount knocked on his door and arranged to create many important scenes there. Everything was so personalized, and the price was so fair that we gave Alessio a 25% tip.We also went to Bar Vitelli and 3 churches where important scenes were shot.

I visited the villa called Castello degli Schiavi last September 2nd together with my wife and we were struck by its history, its beauty and the charm linked to the fact that it was the location chosen for all three Godfather films . An infinite park was the backdrop to this 1500 structure, which was very well kept considering its age. The wonderful basements of a truly large manor with thick, century-old walls enriched by paintings as precious as they are ancient, interiors that exude the charm of ancient and noble experiences and exteriors of extraordinary architectural and natural beauty. Then for Godfather fans I point out the original chairs still in the position where Michael Corleone died of old age. Also worth mentioning is the beautiful chapel located in a structure next to the main villa. Absolutely worth seeing

We were very rushed through this tour which barely lasted 30 minutes. The owner clearly had larger busloads of people to take care of after us. You will recognize the villa as soon as you see it. We were expecting a guide, but there was none. The owner is living off the fame of this house, he grabbed the €50 out of my hand and was gone like a shot. Not worth it for us.

We were on The Godfather Tour provided by Grand Sicily Tours and our guide was the Amazing Alessio. The Castello was an optional extra and so pleased we chose to participate. The Baron was there to greet us and he was so pleasant. Alessio and the Baron together provided a fountain of insights into how the movies were made. Very, very interesting and a beautiful place

This castle is over 250 years old with very interesting Siciliy Baroque architecture . It also featured prominiently in the Godfather movies because some very important scenes are shot here . This castle was where Michael lived while in exile , where his new wife Apollonia was murdered , and where Michael died alone in the courtyard at the end of Godfather III . The present owner is Baron Platania and this castle has been in the family for as long as it has been built. We went there in May and our travel agent arranged for a guided visit . Baron Platania is a very nice and elegant elderly gentleman who took us to all corners in the compound featured in the movies . We have a lot of fun posing for pictures . We even have a chair put in the exact place where Michael died and one of us posed as Michael . Of course, if you you need to be authentic , you need a walking stick , a dog and an orange as props . Don't miss it when you are in the area .

A fantastic setting for a gala dinner. My husband and I were attending a conference and this was were we went for our gala dinner. After being shown a selection of film clips from the Godfather in the grounds the screen went up and you see the house all lit up with armed guards just like in the movie. A great experience and one we will talk about for a long time. The food was excellent freshly cooked pizza created in the grounds to your liking.

This was excellent. You need to have your hotel conciege make a reservation. The current owner takes you around the villa. You immediately recognize the place from all three Godfather movies. It is the home of Don Toamassio.

Our visit in Castello degli Schiavi in September was marvellous. Owner, Baron Platania was very polite and told us a lot of interesting stories about history of his family and the villa itself. As Godfather fans this was the most exciting part of our 10 days holiday in Italy & Sicily.
We would like to thank Agency Sicily Grand Tour in Aci Castello very much for their kind assistance to made this 1h tour happen! Success!

The villa is so beautiful, and we had the pleasure of being escorted through it by the owner. There is so much memorabilia there, and we took lots of photos things like the spot where Apollonia was murdered (GFI), where Fabrizio ran off when he knew Apollonia was in the car and not Michael (GFI), and where Michael dies in the green chair (GFIII). All in all fabulous!

@sicilyshoretoursI’m deeling with this company right now going there next July 2019 thay say they can book this for us privately while visiting other sites. I don’t know the cost yet. I taught that place was in Palermo but it’s not it’s in Cantania I think. It’s the owner summer house. Hope that will help.
