The largely huge and amazing waterfall in east java. The must visiting place.

I came here with the helpful guide for navigating and phototaking.

A little bit walking, but the atmosphere is really refreshing.

We reached the car park and were told we must take a motorbike to the waterfall entrance. It was raining hard at that time with thunder, but we had no choice. The road is open, no problem for cars to go through, but the local village head has decreed that access is only by motorbike. Of course we got soaking wet, arrived at the entrance and were told it has been closed for the rest of the day due to the rising water at the waterfall.
Back to the car park to get changed in the very basic toilet...a very disappointing experience for what are amazing waterfalls according to the photos published.

A lovely waterfall. Not too much walking but trekking sandals are helpful. Loved being able to walk under, feels great on a hot day.

So the title may sound like a big call but I have seen alot of waterfalls around the world and this is the best. The fact you walk through it is even more amazing. The path in and out can be a little slippery. Be prepared to pack and prepare to get wet. All in all a safe, well presented, guided adventure. Stunning all the way!

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Indonesia!
This second highest waterfall in the whole of Indonesia and highest in Java is hard to reach what makes it even more of an adventure to get to see this.

For more info on how to get there properly without a too expensive tour, visit the xgetaway website blog page and read the post 'Visit Mount Bromo and Ijen'.

Madakaripura is an awe-striking attraction not to be missed. Prepare to experience the falls first hand, and get real wet, as the local guides bring you on a walk into the falls itself.

If at all possible, request for Solikin as your guide, (the guide in blue tee in the attached pictures), as he single-handedly heightened the whole experience with his unexpected expertise in photo-taking.

Thanks to him, my friends and I got a whole album of unforgettable moments within these magical falls. Here's sharring some very few but nice pics.

Apart from the very famous Mount Bromo, there are other tourist attractions that must be visited while you are in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. A place that must be visited is the Madakaripura Waterfall. This waterfall is quite famous for both domestic and foreign tourist.
Madakaripura is the highest waterfall on the island of Java and the second highest in Indonesia, with the height of about 1000 meters above sea level. Because of its highness, the atmosphere around there are fresh and cold. The unique part of Madakaripura is its circular shape and around the waterfall is decorated with its beautiful shape plants. Madakaripura waterfall is known as an eternal waterfall, because the water flow never decreases. If you go to Madakaripura waterfall you have to bring a raincoat because during the day it often rains suddenly.

Nice waterfall to visit but the experience was spoiled by the local mafia at a ‘barrier’.
We rented a grab taxi for 4 hours (300k) from Probolinggo to take us to the waterfall. Upon arrival there was a barrier that stopped cars driving down to to the car park (on maps.me it shows up as the bus stop), our grab driver parked up and the car was surrounded by motorbike drivers saying that a car cannot go down to the bottom car park due to the road condition! The road is tarmacked and in perfect condition!
They said that they would take us on motorbikes for 150k, which included lift there and back, ticket entrance and guide (they will say that you need a guide due to government regulations, which is also a lie). We refused to pay and started walking, we were followed for 5 minutes by four motorbikes, and eventually they said 10k for one way, which we also declined. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE or it will just get worse.
The walk to the ticket booth (40k for foreigners) from the bus stop takes 35minutes and then it’s an additional 20minutes walk to the waterfall.
All in all, the waterfalls were nice but you only need around 15minutes at the waterfalls (30min max), it’s a shame about the local mafia at the entrance.
If you are on motorbikes, don’t stop just keep driving underneath the half closed barrier and drive to the parking spot just before the ticket booth.

You will have to take a motorbike ride to the entrance and walked roughly about 2km to reach the waterfall.
There are locals/food stalls selling waterproof bags and raincoats along the way.
This waterfall is really beautiful and worth the visit. There are many photo opportunities as well.
We have no trouble walking around with slippers but be mindful that it could be slippery.
