Beautiful area perfect for history lovers, hiking and water activities. There is a beautiful beach with clear water, perfect for relaxing and snorkelling. Hardly anybody around when we visited in May.

A still wild island, with breathtaking beaches absolutely not to be missed. I read about those who complain about Posidonia...but it is only ignorance that speaks. Posidonia has an important fundamental and above all is indica of clean sea... it can be annoying but absolutely does not detract from the beauty of the sea or the beach. We arrived by renting the dinghy, although half the island is forbidden to navigation and bathing because it is a protected marine area. We took a walk to discover the innermost part. The island is uninhabited so bring water and food. Obviously the waste is to be taken home.

The peninsula of Sinis is a place wonderful for a vacation in any season of the year. It is my favorite destination in Italy. Marine life, country atmosphere, archeology, tasty food, nice people and rich traditions. Don't miss the ruins of the ancient city of Tharros, facing the sea, close to Capo San Marco. Then, the beautiful beaches of Is Arutas, Mari Ermi, Maimoni, Putzu iddu, and Is Arenas. The Isola of Mal di Ventre (Malu Entu) is a wonderful experience for an entire day of marine life (I suggest snorkeling there). The colour of the water is more emerald then in the Emerald Coast. Just don't forget to bring water and a little tent. There is no trees on this island.

Dating back to the Doric period 4th and 3rd century BC, this is a fascinating place to visit in Tharros. I spent four hours walking around the site, and the views from the tower are 360 degree stunning vistas! Plenty of little restaurants to eat and drink.

our landlady in whose house we lived during our stay in the province of oristano made the resevation for us one day before. we arrived at putzu idu arround 10.30 a.m., because the speedboat to the isola di mal di ventre will leave at 11a.m.
we found our travel agency "maremania" very fast and at 11.00 a.m. we leave putzu idu beach in an inflatable speedboat. the transfer took maybe 20 minutes and we arrived on the island.
the isola di mal di ventre is kompletely unhabitated and every visitor has to bring all the needed belongings for own.
very important are a cooling bag with a lots of drinks, because the boat arrives 6 hour later again to pick the guest up again. an empty plasticbag for the own produced trash should also inside your beach luggage. further umbrella and sunprotection. important are watershoes also, because the different beaches have different basis structures.
the beach on which we arrives the island is called "cala valdaro". it is the most colourful one and the visibility of the water is easily unbelieveble. we decided to stay there at least for one hour and so we walked...packed like donkeys... further the small path till "cala libeccio". we were fascinated about this bay ans we took out our umbrella and our bathmats. cala libeccio is formed like a halfmoon and a lot of beautiful rocks are spread in the water and on the beach. the water was flat like a mirror and crystalclear. watershoes are absolutely necessary, because some stones are slippery and others are sharp-edged.
a five minute walk in southly direction there is located another beach called "spiagette di punta di libeccio". the beach consists of three small beaches seperated with cliffs and big rocks. simply beautiful and a very secret place. no one was around. it was realy the loneliest place during our stay on the tiny island on which grows low maccia only.
then we walked back the path we came and after a few minutes we arrived at "cala delle tamerici", also a beach with the same charakteristics like cala libeccio, it made lots of fun to snorkel there. the underwater wildlife was various and the visibility was perfect. beware of seaurchines which are habitate on every beach on the island.
the next beach in direction to the pick-up beach was "cala del relitto". perfect for snorkeling, other beaches are better for sunbathing, because a lot of rotten seagras lies very high around. the island is an protected area and nothing has to change the place unnatural.
then we arrived at "cala del pontile", a smaller beach which was used as port in the history of that island. at the southend there are the ruines of a stony ridge. the sandy beach is framed by cliffs at both ends and a lots of slippery stones are spread in the crystalclear water.
then we arrived at "cala del nuraghe", also a hiostorical place. in the year 1972 areologists discovered 2 nuraghe ruines near to the beach. the beach is very tiny and maybe 20 meters long, the sand is golden and the water crystalclear.
after another 5 minutes walk we arrived at "cala dei pastori", the smallest beach we ever saw. only a few meters golden sand and a shiny green water. also a ruine is located there, about the origin of the ruine we didn´t know anything. the pure walking time from one beach to the other was maybe 25 minutes, because the island is realy small
after this beach we went back to our homebase at "cala libeccio" and we spended maybe two hours in the sunshine or in the water...we had lunch...and around 3.30 p.m.we went back to our pickuo beach "calöa valdaro", a beach like in a fairytail. the water was milkyblue and milkygreen, crystalclear and tupwarm. beautiful red rocks are spread in the water...it was easily a dream.
in the north of the island there are located three other beaches we didn´t visited, because for all the lonely places we had not enough time. we splashed for one a half hour in the water of cala valdaro till 5 p.m. when our speedboat arrived ti pick us up.
we can recomment isola di mal di ventre very much. we had a perfect day on this unhabitated island with a lots of lonely beaches and breathtaking impressions.

Stunning area which closely rivals Scarborough and Whitby. Except this area has aqua marine sea, beautiful scenery and temperatures 20c warmer. Truly a great spot to walk, take in a little Roman history and generally chill. Only thing that it lacks is Yorkshire fish an chips. Go there and be chalmed.

We rented a boat in order to get to the island from Torregrande. Take everything with you as the island is deserted and is a nature reserve. Loads of wildlife in the waters around the rocks. We found a few jellyfish, so be aware, the contact with the skin is extremely painful. The waters are super clean and you can walk around the flat landscape through a narrow path.

My wife and I were so pleased to find this place on our first day of our Sardinian holiday.
In our opinion it had everything we were wanting from our holiday.
It has lovely views and has a great walk around around the headland with wonderful vistas.
Also of note was the archeological significance.
Finally the beach was excellent. Lovely clear water and very few people on the beach.
There was a bit of dried sea grass on the beach which could be a little smelly if fresh but apart from that it was marvellous.
We both found the restaurants close by to be adequate and god a great lunch.
We visited the beach most days.
Make sure you have change for parking which was policed.

This is a pretty scenic peninsula and even if you don't go into the ancient city of Tharros, you can see the ruins on the stroll by the fence (including the seaside columns, ruins of the temple, etc.).

I cani possono andare in spiaggia?
Written July 25, 2018
Essendo area marina protetta andresti in grave contravvenzione.
