Bought the River Cottage day for my husband's Christmas present. He had a fabulous day and learned loads (only ever really does BBQ at home- so not a regular cheffy type) about how to fillet an cook various fish, how to dress a crab, pick and cook mussels, and was able to eat everything he had made- sand sole en... My partner and I enjoyed an evening at River Cottage as part of their Friday Night Dining Experience. From beginning to end the experience was expertly planned and thought out, leaving guests ample time to explore the farm, chat to staff and chefs and to learn about the cottage. Although the experience was advertised as a 4 course meal, it... More

We attended a general cooking course for a day and made panecotta, bread, fish (also learnt how to fillet), pork fillet and parsnip soup from seasonal products on the farm and from the surrounding area. My husband and I left having an understanding that simple sauces, spices and techniques can enhance a meal. We also saw a couple of funny... More

The River Cottage experience starts with a tractor trailer ride from the car park....part of the fun but be prepared, high heels are not a great idea. We ate in the farmhouse at a communal table and enjoyed chatting with fellow guests but not somewhere to go if you are looking for a romantic dinner for two. The staff are... More

We attended a charity dinner at River Cottage HQ. Lovely setting and the venue was perfect for some 60 attendees. Champagne reception in the yurt gave everybody a chance to mingle and get an overview of the evening from the staff. Once in the barn we had a lovely three course meal delivered very efficiently by the front of house... More

Really great day at RCHQ doing the "Pig In A Day" course. Excellent day all round. We were in a group of only 6 so got plenty of hands on time with the pig learning the basics of pork butchery and sausage/chorizo/bacon making. Lots of interesting nuggets of information and loads of tasty nuggets of pig cooked from the carcas... More

We had been given a Christmas gift of a Sunday lunch at River Cottage HQ by our children. Today was probably not the best of weather, lots of showers, hail stones and then bright sunny spells but one could take in the views across the country side and see the farm house set in a hidden valley. We had headed... More

This was a surprise birthday treat, and was ideal. The River Cottage ethos was evident from being dropped off by our taxi at the entrance to the farm where we transferred to a trailer towed by a tractor along a bumpy track to a yurt at the HQ, where we were given welcoming drinks and ‘amuse bouches’ and a description... We were due to attend an evening with Hugh followed by a meal. Sadly Hugh was bedridden and could not attend, despite this we had an enjoyable meal.

My wife and I spent an informative and fun day at River Cottage HQ. Our tutor for the day Naomi Devlin was passionate and knowledgeable about nutrition and food which made the whole experience such a pleasure. A big thank you to all those who helped her throughout the day and to the guy who worked so hard in the... More
