Fantastic welcome center
Nov 2018 • Friends
The Guilford Welcome Center is a great place to stop for information about Vermont. There are hundreds of brochures and travel guides free of charge. There is a real helpful guide called Vermont 91/89. It breaks down what is on every exit on I-91 and I-89. There are loads of great travel ideas in this particular guide. I found it in the front of the building right next to the entrance.

The staff there are extremely helpful in suggesting places to eat and explaining directions. The facilities are very clean. It’s a great place to have a coffee (vending machines available) and bathroom break.

Spend some Time!
Oct 2018 • Couples
We actually stopped just to grab a geocache, but ended up spending a couple of hours here! Beautiful grounds, beautiful buildings. The staff were very friendly and helpful! RVers are welcome to overnight. While the main portion of the visitors center is closed at night (I don't remember the hours) the vending machine and restroom area is open 24/7.

Warm andI Inviting!
Oct 2018 • Solo
A rest area is usually the place along the road to stop, stretch our legs and use the rest room facilities. Not so here in Guilford, VT. This recently completed facility is much more. I didn't want to leave!

The main and outer buildings are most pleasing to the eye. The actual center had a taste of VT products on display. And, not the usual bottles and trinkets of this and that. There was VT-made furniture and other items. Outside there was a protected area where a local charity was conducting a fundraiser. The staff on hand was friendly and knowledgeable - i expected nothing less!

I was a little saddened to have to get back in the car and head off for my intended destination.

Amazingly Beautiful

My husband and I have travelled the United States and stopped in many welcome centers, but Guilford, VT was by far the most beautiful, inside and out.

Best Rest Area
Aug 2018 • Couples
We stop here every time we head north to VT and NH. It is a beautiful location and well designed. It even has a nice dog walking area that is separate from the parking lot. Often (including today by the town of Grafton) on weekends there are VT civic organizations giving away home baked goodies and even dog biscuits! I noticed in late summer the entrance to this rest area comes up quick as you are traveling in interstate 91 North because the vegetation has grown thick around the sign and off ramp. So slow down a bit when you see the sign that the welcome center is coming up. You should know that there are no gas stations at VT rest areas. However there is a Mobile station at the next exit.

Best Rest Stop EVER - perfect for families
Oct 2017 • Family
Last October we stopped here to give our young toddler a break en route to Burlington. I was blown away by this rest area - it's easily the nicest welcome area I have ever been to. Everything is beautiful, modern and clean. I had two immediate thoughts - 1. every parent needs to know about this stop because there's even a playground!!! and 2. I need to write a letter to the state of Vermont to say THANK YOU. I'm even re-routing my upcoming trip to New Hampshire to a longer drive just so I can stop here again to give my 2 year old a place to run around, play and have a picnic lunch mid-drive.

Why it's the best
1. Beautiful inside and out - the grounds are spectacular in addition to a gorgeous interior complete with Vermont handcrafted rocking chairs to relax.
2. Playground! It can't be understated, this is amazing for families.
3. Clean, family friendly facilities.
4. A wealth of information separated by regions of Vermont (not the usual pile up of brochures on a wall).
5. Those rocking chairs! You'll want one, I promise.
6. Don't just stop here to use the facilities. Have a picnic, walk the grounds. Great if you have kids or a dog with you but wonderful for anyone.

Trust me - you'll want to thank the state of Vermont too.

They saved my vacation!
Jul 2018 • Family
We have been stopping here on our way to our summer resort with our children (and now grandchildren) for over twenty years. Every year we find some exciting new exhibit to enjoy, showcasing some aspect of Vermont craftsmanship or industry. Yesterday my twenty year old son and I strolled through the "Meadows Exhibit." We reminisced among the rustic farm implements about the gradual transformation this place has experienced over the years. It just gets better and better. The staff have always been exemplary, going out of their way to help you find what you need. After leaving this place I stopped to get fuel at White River Junction and discovered to my chagrin that my wallet was missing. When I finally decided to call the welcome center I was gratified to learn that a fellow traveler had found my wallet in the parking lot and had turned it in. Praise God the staff had secured it and were hoping for my call. Their integrity saved our vacation.

Nicest roadside rest area ever :-)
Jun 2018
We stopped here to stretch our legs last weekend, and surprise! Nicest roadside rest area ever. A gorgeous barn-like building, beautiful exhibits inside, and lovely landscaped gardens outside. Seriously, if you're driving by – stop in.

Outstanding, nice stop
May 2018 • Family
Very nice park like setting, the buildings resemble old farm buildings. There are plenty of free maps, magazines, vouchers. There are lounge chairs and a ski lift chair the kids loved to climbed in. The restrooms are super clean. It was a pleasant stop. It had a small formal garden, old farm equipment, grassy doggy walk area.
