The Dak Bungalow, now called Quaid Lodge (after the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan), is located along the banks of Jhelum River in Barsala, 32 km short of Muzaffarabad.
Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his sister Fatima Jinnah stayed here in 1946 while traveling to Srinagar. The location of the lodge along the Jhelum River is beautiful and very scenic. Till a few years back, the old rest house was in almost in ruins but it has been restored excellently to its original shape and looks beautiful. Though it is furnished and liveable but unless one is interested in seeing the sunset and sunrise scene from the rest house or just want's to stay in there due to its historic location, there are better places to live in Muzaffarabad.
A must stop over for a 30 minutes break while traveling from Murree to Muzaffarabad. It is however not more than 1 hour activity. There are few shops in Barsala that provide very basic food.

Its better not to try if u can find a better place. The highly untrained and lethargic staff bugs your mind. The washrooms stink like anything. The frequent water and electricity problems are the hall mark. The towels in washroom are dirty and food served is unhygienic.
