The hugely popular temple has severe restrictions on religion and dress code. The management does accept the fact that people from other religions too pray to Lord Guruvayurappan as evidenced by the facilities outside the temple for such devotees. The dress code for women is undergoing slow change by accepting Chudidar now which was not so earlier when only Mundu... More

Guruvayoor is one of the most famous temples in Kerala. The temple opens at 3 a.m. Its better to find a stay in the temple vicinity, else you may have lengthy morning walk. And it's better to reach the temple by 2.30 am during weekdays(Weekends are heard to be more crowded) so that you can be in the first queue... More

This is a must on your itinerary of a Kerala visit. The temple is filled with the culture of Kerala. Visit this temple early in the morning or around 3 pm. Lot of devotees visit this temple. However you can skip the queue with the VIP darshan ticket of Rs 4500.00 (for 5 persons). Lot of shopping options are available... More

Nirmalya Darshan will be from 3:00 AM to 3:15 AM. Queuing starts at 1:00 AM for Nirmalya Darshan. We went to temple in the morning @5:00 AM. It was less crowded. It took only 15 minutes for us to complete the darshan. The volunteers near the karba graha were literally pushing the bhakthas to manage the crowd(Typical Tirupathi style). No... More

Gents have to either wear a dhoto or veshti and show your bare torso to enter the temple. A small cloth can be carried by gents to drape it on the shoulder. No western dress for ladies. East Nada entrance looks more busy than West Nada entrance. Senior citizens have a separate queue in West Nada side and there are... More

I visited this temple in June'16 after a long time and I still feel it is one temple where the tradition is conserved. Only people with traditional costumes are allowed to enter the temple. The crowd management is also terrific. I stayed in the west nada and that helped me in the accessibility. The little Krishna, the deity, is amazing.
