We took a day trip from Muscat with this place as our ultimate destination, not really knowing what to anticipate. It was more than a little warm outside, but it was comfortable inside. Well, okay, not really comfortable, but certainly better than outside. It was a fascinating place to explore with a lot of history and context explained. Having this... More

a great place to visit for something a little different to the Castes of Europe. Oman is a spectacular country, and the views from the top of this castle are sublime on a clear day. Well worth the visit, get a guide for the whole story.

Apart from the structure of Jabrin Fort, (also referred to as Jabreen Castle), it contains a number of old items/artefacts on display. Visitors to the fort are provided with an audio guide, which assists a route round the fort. However, in a small number of cases, following the number sequence required a little searching. The guide explains the likely occupants... More

Is it a castle or a fort? and is it called Jabreen or Jabrin or Jibreen? Well, it appears that anything goes for this well known construct dating back to 1670, considered to be one of the most beautiful castle/forts in Oman. We got here in the late afternoon, luckily in sufficient time before the gates close and had an... More

The fort is well-restored, and decorated, so you can get the idea about what is typical in Omani style. They offer also a free audio-guide, but some descriptions are not well recorded and difficult to listen. But at least you can have an idea. Definitely worthwhile to stop for a visit, discovering some interesting cultural aspects and being able to... More

If you decide not to visit all forts in Oman, or you only have time for one - select Jabrin Castle. It has not only been built as a fort, but also as living space for the Imam and has therefore been politically important. Beautifully built and nicely presented today. A must if you want to know more on Oman... More

Fortress-like exterior with interior design of a palace make Jabrin a jewel in the crown of Omani architecture.

Ranks atop the tree amongst the big 3 forts of Nizwa, Bahla and Jabrin. Beautifully presented, sensitively refurbished, informative, user friendly, and a delight to wander around. Would strongly recommend you visit if you find yourself in the area as its only 5 km from Bahla anwyay, If you only have time to visit one fort in this district then... More
