Beautiful and clean (for Israel standards)
Jul 2019 • Family
With so many miles of coast line in Israel there is no shortage of beaches, but Ashdod has a very wide beach with calm clear water.

There are very few attractions on this beach. There are no restaurants on the beach, No big screens for soccer games, no Hukah bars, just sand and surf and life guard towers.

WC facilities are clean and showers to wash the sand function well.

The beach was almost empty but there was trash floating in the water and some trash on the sand even with trash cans every 100 meters, some people are just pigs.

There is also a huge playground near the parking lot. Lots of fun even for the big kids.

Very long Аshdod beaches are very different in terms of the number of holidaymakers - choose what you like .If you use the car, you can visit the distant beaches towards the Ashkelon

Mediterranean Blue
Jun 2018 • Friends
Ashdod is located in the Southern District of the country, on the Mediterranean coast 30 kms from Tel Aviv. Notice the blue Mediterranean that lends it's name to a shade of blue.

Great day at the beach
Jul 2018 • Family
Gil beach has great sand and nice water. Positives are it is very clean, ample parking, responsible life guards, bathrooms, and inexpensive chair and umbrella rentals. Minor negatives; because it is very close to the port the view is not great (expect to see a lot of shipping boats). There is no place on the beach to buy any drinks or ice cream. But overall a solid option.

Sunbathe next to, splash in, and/or walk along the Mediterranean at Ashdod....
May 2017 • Friends
There are several outstanding beaches along the shore at Ashdod.
Besides Gil Beach (already excellently reviewed earlier), also visit nearby Beer Sheva Beach.

This is a "blue flag," beach -- which means it meets an international environmental quality standard of water quality, safety features, facilities, etc. There are four lifeguards, 6 life buoys, and 2 boats available from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.
It has a handicap-access path to the sand; a thatched shelter; playground; bathrooms; four outdoor shower heads for rinsing off; plenty of trash cans; drinking fountains; and my favourite feature -- beach ashtrays, which are like blue plastic ice cream cones that sit upright in the sand, to borrow, use, and return empty.

People are encouraged to walk or bike to the beach, but it can also be reached by buses 10, 11, 12, 21, 22, 23, and 26 -- which pull right up to the roundabout to let you off (helpful if you are carrying beach blankets, towels, lunch, etc.).
There is plenty of parking, including 7 handicapped spaces.

A clean and beautiful beach -- one of my favourites in Israel.

Come at sunset and watch the sun drop into the Mediterranean at any Ashdod beach.

This is very natural beach with limited services. The neighbouring Metzuda Beach is much more interesting.

Great beaches
Oct 2016 • Friends
There is a long strip of coast with several beaches, like Gil and lido, in ashdod. They are all clean with nice sand, have shaded areas, and have lifesaving services during the summer. They all have plenty of free parking(unlike some other beaches in Israel) .The beaches are generally quiet, and not too busy. In the early summer, check out the jellyfish forecast.
