Me and my two sons (aged 12 and 16) had 4 great dives with diving instructor Decky at the Lembongan Dive Center. The boys are not certfied divers yet but after this experience, they will certainly take a Padi course. Decky took us to some great drift dive sites today and yesterday we did the Manta Point and Crystal Bay sites. The manta encounter at the cleaning station was a great experience, so were all the turtles and other beatiful sea creatures we found on our way!

We will highly recommend the diving centre and particularly the diving instructor Decky, who took really good care og all of us, especially buddy Jacob. Greetings also to the dog Buddy on the beach:)

Best regards,
Jacob&Jo

We have had the best few days with the team at Lembongan Dive Centre! The diving was amazing, the crew was spectacular and everything was so easy and smooth.
Wayan, Victor and Randy were stand out players, thank you Lads, for looking after us, guiding us and got the singing in the rain this morning 🤘 You are all so good at your jobs!
The dive spots you choose for us were incredibly beautiful and I loved how it was always safety first! Wayan, you did the best job keeping us in line from the rear 🤣
Seriously, if you want a fab diving experience in Lembongan, I can’t recommend these guys enough.
Thank you LBC, you guys rock ⭐️

I messaged a bunch of dive Centers in lembongan and lembongan dive Center was the most responsive to my inquiries. So we chose to do our very first discovery dive with them.

Our pool training was done with Ronad (hope I got his name right) . He was absolutely humble and an amazing teacher, My wife and I were a little apprehensive about doing something like this, Ronad made sure we were calm. His instruction and demonstration was very clear and easy to follow.

The next day we were appointed Moyo as our dive master. Moyo had us excited from the get go. Him and the rest of the LDC staff have a great vibe and fun energy. Even the 45 min boat ride was entertaining!

We first stopped at the Manta point, we were briefed by Moyo and in we went. Moyo controlled our descent very gracefully and constantly checked if we were okay.We spent a good 45mins to an hour with mantas swimming all around us. Truly amazing.

Once back on the boat we were off to Crystal Bay for our second dive. But first we had a meal on the boat.
The second dive felt a lot easier, the water was clear and we were much more comfortable at being underwater by this point.

All in all a splendid experience!

I also want to reach out and give my thanks to the rest of the crew from LDC who were hustling and helping us along the way! Even the little things like getting on the boat, putting on our equipment was done by all members of this center.

They get my complete recommendation if you are like me looking to get a taste of the scuba life!

I've had mixed feelings regarding my experience with this centre.

This is mainly because my experience with our instructor Chloe was an absolute nightmare, the same sentiment was shared within my group as well. In fact, she was probably the most terrible person I have met during my whole trip in Indonesia. During our training session in the pool, she acted like a bully, being unreasonably aggressive verbally and physically. This went to an extent where some amongst us were about to drop the activity as we felt no longer safe diving with her.

Luckily, I have been switched to a local instructor which was awesome - big thanks to him. From this moment, everything run smoothly and the experience became great as we enjoyed underwater seeing many majestic manta rays.

My girlfriend and I recently booked a dive with Lembongan Diver Center and I have to say it was one of the best experiences of our two week trip in Bali. Having previously dived in Padangbai, where the standard had been set very high by the dive school, I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and thoroughness of both our instructor. The communication between the office and myself via email was excellent, we wanted to arrange the fast boat from Bali ourselves and this was not a problem, the dive school even sent someone to meet us at the jetty, even though we hadn't booked the boat with them. The 2 dives were incredible and we felt 100% comfortable with our instructor. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone I know or anyone else for that matter. Thanks.

Having just completed my open water course my partner and I went to Lembongan dive centre to enquire about diving with them. Fabian laughed at my logbook for having so few dives - I took this in jest as a newbie. We booked two dives the following day. Everyone was introduced to their 'dive master' two dives later we get back to the shop and we ask Fabian to sign our logbooks. His reaction was somewhat a surprise - he couldn't have done more to avoid us and kept telling us to wait whilst he promptly disappeared. Eventually his colleague told him to come and deal with us. He signed the book... left his number blank... why... because he didn't have one because he's not a dive master. His avoidance to deal with the issue of our log book tells us all we needed to know really. He didn't admit this freely and it took me asking directly for him to admit it... We were allowed the think we had a dive master with us. To think the day before he was laughing at my inexperience and yet of all the people available to guide us they pair me with someone who is not a dive master ... absolute madness and definitely not what I signed up for - I would never have booked to dive here if I knew ... this point should have been made clearly so an educated decision could have been made. Fabian corrected this matter by putting his brothers dive master number in my log book... hmm I wonder what SSI or PADI would think of that? Absolute joke.

We booked with this dive center because of the consistently terrific reviews it gets, and indeed we had 4 days of great, fun, courteous, comfortable and safe dives.

As you will read a lot about diving in Lembongan, and how tricky it can get because of the strong and changing currents, especially in Crystal Bay, let me be more specific about it (I am an experienced diver with 300+ dives all over the world in different conditions).

You mainly dive both the North and South shore of Nusa Penida island, toward its western side, where a narrow canal some 1km wide (at times less than that) and 10km long separates it from Nusa Cembongan/Lembongan. These three islands are right in the middle of the Bali-Lombok strait, which is the main gateway of the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF), i.e. the large current that moves from the Pacific (North) to the Indian Ocean (South) through Indonesia. As the canal is roughly N-S oriented, basically this becomes a narrow pass for the ITF, i.e. very strong currents. Add to this the large tides in the area, plus the swell from the Indian Ocean due to the Southern monsoon, and you have conditions of current in the area as tricky as they can get: in one 60' dive at Crystal Bay the current changed from zero to moderate to strong, then back to moderate, first West-East, then down current, then East-West, then up current plus thermocline (from 25-26 to 21 C)... and we were diving close to the high tide, i.e. relatively slack conditions! One morning we were there at the low tide, thus with relatively less volume of water through which the current has to move, with moderate swells pushing from South: the bay normally calm and 'crystal clear' was a giant washing machine, i.e. no dive. Two hours later it was back to 'normal' (see above).

Still, is it safe to dive there? if you are relatively used to dive with currents, and follow some simple rules, definitely yes: find a good and experienced guide that times the dives with the tide and not with his own business (in general no dive around low tide...), and stay close to the reef. Once the current picks up (and it will...), you stick to the reef and control it. We never experienced strong bursts of current longer than 1'. If you do that you are perfectly safe; if instead you are more 'creative' in your choices, you can get yourself into serious trouble: as simple as that.

The reward for these challenging conditions is ... paradise under water: healthy corals, myriads of all sort of reef fishes, nudies, plenty of mantas (we got 20 or more in one single dive), in season the Mola Mola, the occasional shark (grey reef, white tip, thresher), and just about everything else. At the beginning of August we were told a group of divers had an encounter with a humpback whale.

Lembongan Dive Center makes this paradise accessible in comfort and safety. They are a relatively small dive center located on the beach and managed by highly experienced locals (there are also guides from other countries, though everyone speaks very good English) with three comfortable boats, two of which accommodating up to 12 divers max. plus a smaller one. One dive guide accompanies max 4 divers and groups are always formed according to skill levels. The choice of sites and timing is based on the conditions of the day (remember swells, tides, currents...?), always finding the right compromise between adrenaline and safety. Dives are planned in the morning, with a 2-tank dive trip coming back around 1-2 pm. A small delicious local lunch is served onboard (you can choose ex ante your preferred option) plus of course water and hot coffee and tea.

Make sure to reserve via email in advance, they seemed pretty busy while we were there, and with reason. P

And happy dives in beautiful Lembongan!

We are an instructor couple. We went around and talked to a few diveshops, we chose LDC because they gave us the best offer, the compressor room was very clean and they directly offered a pick up.
Did 2 days diving (4 dives), with Suka, we had an awesome time. North of island has very healty reef (lots and lots of fish and nice corals) and manta bay was quite impressive with alot of mantas just swimming around us, turtle and bamboo shark. The boat is good, with lunch and water, coffe and tea. Staff is really nice, fun and smilling all the time. Felt safe all the time. We recommend this diveshop !
Thank you guys for two amazing days !
P.S. ask Suka to show you the duck fish ;)

Hi Benoit1984CH Thank you so much for your comments & for taking time to review your diving experience with us. We are really pleased you chose Lembongan Dive Center for your dive trip on our beautiful island. Suka is one of the most experienced guides you will find in these waters, so it was no surprise he showed you some cool stuff. Our mantas never cease to amaze even experienced divers, as for the duckfish, you were very lucky!! As one of the smaller, locally owned dive centers on Nusa Lembongan, we aim to provide a personal service which meets the needs of our guests, so it is great to receive such positive feedback. I just had a very disappointing time with that dive center. I am a dive instructor, we chose that dive center under a friend's recommendation. I was with 2 friends (another dive instructor and an advanced diver), we do have a lot of experience so we were not hard to manage. We had a guide called Deborah, freshly new instructor...she was obviously inexperienced and didn't know the dive sites. She decided to change the second dive site and we actually went to a really boring place. I have more or less 6000 dives and I have been told that I wasn't suppose to go up with my buddy who was low on air, she obviously doesn't know much about scuba diving protocols...The second dive, she ended the dive after 45 minutes while my instructor friend still had half a tank. The dive shop is responsible for the guides they provide, diving should be fun and an enjoyable moment. It seems they don't understand that at that dive center...

Hi Boumsen It’s always disappointing to receive such feedback, especially as we have never had a guest rate us 1* in over a hundred reviews on Tripadvisor. During high season, most of the Dive Centers in Nusa Lembongan (and anywhere in the world for that matter) take on freelance guides & instructors. As a diving instructor you will fully appreciate, some are more experienced than others. In all levels of diving, experience comes from learning and reviewing your experience of a particular dive or situation. Feedback such as yours is valuable in helping us to provide coaching and guidance to all our staff, whether permanent or freelance. By the way, check out the reviews by JackyHk13 on 14th August, where she described Deborah as a ‘phenomenal’ instructor and also from Cahagne A on 18th August. I’m sorry that your diving experience was not what you would expect from a top rated dive center. If you are ever over on Nusa Lembongan again, please get in touch, as we would love the opportunity to change your opinion of us. Best Regards, Nyoman Riana – Owner & Dive Center Manager.
