About
Award winning Tamarind Divers is a small, locally owned PADI Dive Center, based on the paradise island of Nusa Lembongan, Bali. Our aim is to provide a professional, safe and fun diving experience, with small groups whose individual diving needs can be satisfied. We have a wealth of expertise within our international team of Instructors and Divemasters, who together have more than 30 years of diving experience in the waters around Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Our daily dive trips usually consist of 2 guided dives, along the spectacular coasts of Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Penida. We offer a maximum of 4 guests per guide and all our guides are professionally trained PADI Instructors or Divemasters. We offer the full range of PADI courses from first-time introductory divers through to PADI Divemaster, as well as the Mola Mola Awareness Specialty –exclusive to Tamarind Divers. Every once in a while, you come across a business that goes above and beyond and creates an AMAZING experience. Tamarind Divers did this and I feel compelled to share what prompted me to write this review.
To start with, it was my first time diving. I received my pool training and prep work in the US and was coordinating my certification dives from abroad. Michelle, dive instructor and dive master extraordinaire, handled the email correspondence back and forth professionally and expediently. The logistics of all the others in our group were never an issue and she made excellent suggestions that ultimately enhanced the experience for all of us. When we expressed some concern after hearing that some of the waters in the area could have dangerous currents, she reassured us that she wouldn’t take us to any locations known for high currents, safety was always the top priority, and she would always assess the conditions before any dive.
Once we arrived on Nusa Lembongan, Michelle, Suka, and the entire Tamarind team took incredibly good care of us. We walked to the dive shop the first day to meet and take care of paperwork. Thereafter, we were picked up every morning at our hotel and taken directly to the boat. Our meal preferences were noted and our rented equipment was ready every day, in great shape.
As an instructor, Michelle was knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. She answered all our questions and shared her experience with us. I always felt I was in safe and capable hands. On the second morning when we arrived at the second site of the day, she assessed the waters and decided the currents were too strong and took us to a different site. I appreciated her willingness to make that decision and change plans with our safety in mind.
Whether Tamarind had anything to do with this or not, I can’t say for sure, but we saw a whale shark on my first open-water dive(!) and rang in the new year with manta rays. We got six hour-long dives in during the three days and I was just blown away by how beautiful it was underwater. Michelle was extremely familiar with the waters and the sea life, and after every dive, she reviewed in great detail all the creatures we had seen.
I can’t say enough great things about Tamarind Divers. Next time I return to Bali, I will definitely be returning for more dives with them. Highly recommended!

My wife and I dove with Tamarind Divers for the first three days we stayed in Nusa Lembongan. The operation is outstanding, with some of the friendliest and most professional dive pros I've encountered in all of my years of diving. We dove with Helen and Suka alongside an open water course run by Michelle. All of three of them were awesome, very experienced and very familiar with the sites we dove. We had some rotten luck with diving conditions during our stay on Lembongan, but the team at Tamarind made it a great experience anyway.
The dive shop is clean, well equipped, and well staffed. The boat crew (two captains) were exceptionally professional, friendly, safe, and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable, maybe not the cheapest on the island, but still very affordable.
I have been diving around the world for many years, and without a doubt Tamarind Divers is one of the best operations I've ever experienced. As a Divemaster, I highly recommend this operation. It's an absolutely exceptional team, and they'll make sure you have a great experience. We will be back to dive with them in the future.

My 13 year old had recently got his PADI cert in Australia, and wanted to do a dive whilst we were in Nusa Lembongan. As his mother I was a little nervous about letting him go without anyone he knew.
Michelle the dive instructor was understanding, professional and reassuring, allowing me to support him in his new passion and to feel confident in giving him his independence.
I can’t thank Michelle enough for all her help. My son had a fantastic dive, he had been saving for a while to pay for this treat and was blessed by the opportunity to swim with the Mantas, making his dream and hard work saving all the more worthwhile.

Hey everyone,
I chose to to my Open Water Diver Course in Nusa Lembongan and there are lots of places where you can do so, but I was recommended to pick Tamarind Divers, which I ended up doing.
They are a bit more expensive than other dive shops (5. 4 million IDR) , but I think they don't overcharge.
Since I went in the quite season I got a personal instructor (nobody else signed up for that course) for the same price and the personal attention was really nice. I felt like I was treated in the manner appropriate to my abilities, I didn't have much problems with the theory, so my lovely instructor Stacy went a bit more into detail, but at the same time she did well helping me out with practical things I couldn't accomplish at the first attempt.
Obviously that's the way it should be and I do not necessarily doubt that it's different with other dive companies, but since I only went with Tamarind Divers I can just share my experience with them.
There was not really anything that bothered me, the crew was nice, I loved the diving and when you felt like doing so, you could also always have a good chat.
I encourage you to do research for other possibilities as well if you wanna save a bit, but I can guarantee you that with Tamarind you do get what you pay for.

My partner and I completed our Advanced Open Water ticket between Christmas and New Year. Helen was our instructor and she was absolutely brilliant. Her attention to detail was second to none, always making sure we kitted up properly and checked each other. In the water, she was attentive and made sure she pointed out many things of interest along the way. She wasn't afraid to correct us and made sure we understood everything that we were doing. Highly recommend.
On the 3rd day, after our course, we went to Manta Point with Bunter. He is always good fun and commandeered our camera to get some great underwater shots for us.
We will be back.

Last monday we did two dives with Tamarind dive centre and had a good experience!
The staff was very friendly, skilled and helpfull with arranging transport. They speak English very well and are easy to communicate with. The equipent was very good and dive planning was very clear.
We are both Advanced Open Water Divers and dove to Manta Point and Crystal bay. We were a little disappointed in Manta Point because we did not see Manta’s and apart from this the divesite was not that beautiful. But of course if we had seen many reef manta’s, it would have been spectacular. Crystal Bay was beautiful, both the coral and the marine dive.
In comparison to other diving we did in Bali, Tamarind divers was more expensive (1250000 IDR per person), but it did include a beautiful boat ride alongside the coast of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida and a nice lunch!

We are so sorry for the lack of Mantas, it happens sometimes and it is really disappointing for us too. We really want you to have the most amazing experience. We are slightly more expensive then diving in Bali as we have further away dive sites and therefore incur more costs, we are glad you enjoyed the beautiful boat journey there though. We hope next time you come to Nusa Lembonagn that the Mantas are here for you.

We had one of the most incredible diving experiences with Tamarind Divers! Took our Advanced OW course with Paul and learned so much, we always felt safe and comfortable.
Our trip was a tad bit complicated as we had several family and friends wanting to dive + snorkel during our course, but Evy did such a great job organizing our whole trip! She was also a great dive + snorkeling guide for the others, everyone came back very happy.
Big kudos to Paul and Evy! They were very professional, helpful and informative. We would definitely come back and dive with them again!
Our trip was a tad bit complicated as we had several family and friends wanting to dive + snorkel during our course, but Evy did such a great job organizing our whole trip! She was also a great dive + snorkeling guide for the others, everyone came back very happy.
Big kudos to Paul and Evy! They were very professional, helpful and informative. We would definitely come back and dive with them again!

we did the PADI open course at Tamarind's for 4 days ending on new year's day and we were blown away!
first and foremost, a BIG THANK YOU to Michelle and her team at the dive centre! you guys really made the entire time so much more enjoyable!
Michelle was very patient and approachable and made sure we got the basics down before moving to more advanced techniques and drills. She also constantly made safety the number one priority and that reassured us, especially when I personally have a fear of the open sea.
She was eager to point out the different species and even went through the marine life after each dive. So the course wasnt just about diving but also became a lesson on marine biology.
Extremely, highly recommended!!

An amazing experience that should not be missed if you’re in Lembongan. Tamarind Divers were so welcoming and supportive to everyone on their dives. My partner and I completed our open water dives with Pepe who was such an encouraging and entertaining dive. The equipment was all in great condition and we gained perfect knowledge of how to set everything up and feel confident as divers. I would highly recommend Tamarind Divers to anyone whether it’s your first dive or an experienced diver!

Went scubadiving (open water discovery) at Tamarinddivers along with my girlfriend whom only wanted to go snorkeling, what was also a possibility. Beside the fact that it was an amazing experience (because we got to see lots and lots of mantas during our second dive @ Manta Point), the crew and instructors are amazing. We went in a small group which ment personal attention for everyone. You can tell the instructors are all very competent and passionate in what they do. Really loved going here and would recommend everyone who visits Lembongan - and wants to go for a discovery dive, open water course or whatever - to do this @ Tamarinddivers!

We've been open for domestic tourism since August 2020 and are waiting for Bali to open again to international tourists. We hope this will be in June or July, so fingers crossed October will be a good time to visit us again. We don't have any special arrangements with Villa Soruga, but let us have dates and we will check with the owners to see if they can give you a deal!

Fabulous Tamarind Divers!
I came to Lembongan hoping to see the manta rays. Unfortunately, we didn't make out to the Manta Point due to high swells during my stay. But I was impressed with the way Evi ran Tamarind Divers. They provide such a personalized service with small groups and new equipment. I am coming back to Lembongan in May/June next year and will definitely go with Tamarind Divers again.

Hi Jess, Thanks for diving with us and for your glowing feedback. Shame we couldn't get to the manta sites when you dived with us, but safety is always our #1 priority and boats have sunk heading to the south of Penida when the swell has been big.
Let's hope we can pay them a visit when you return next year!!

Unfortunately we do not offer snorkelling trips. Snorkellers occasionally join our trip when their partners or friends are diving with us.
We also only offer dive trips to people that are staying on nusa lembongan.

Hi, we are thinking about doing a fullday snorkeling trip tomorrow. Do you offer something like that? We read that probably it will be raining tomorrow and strong winds in the weather forecast. Hi Marko,
We primarily do scuba diving trips. We only take snorkelers on our boat when family or friends are diving.
To come to nusa lembongan you would need to organize a fast boat from sanur.
Have a look at lembongan water sports as I think they can arrange snorkelling trip from ubud.
