About
Recharge at the Rosario Islands’ Bora Bora Cartagena Beach Club, where guests can enjoy lounging in their own cabana. Spend the day swimming in crystal-clear waters, kayaking, getting a massage or grooving to the beats by a live DJ. A normal day package includes a cabana, a welcome cocktail, and lunch. You can upgrade to the V.I.P. day pass to be seated in a more secluded area, and have more lunch options. Return boat transfers are included in either package. Alternatively, stay the night at one of the club's six new cabins, and enjoy the magnificent Bora Bora sunset. – Tripadvisor

Highly recommend this experience for a day. We are a family with 2 16 years olds and we all loved it. The beach club is immaculate, the water is pristine, the food is excellent and the service is impeccable. We upgraded to the beach house experience and we were not disappointed. We are staying at the Conrad resort this week just outside Cartagena (and we are generally pasty Canadians) and we found it to be much, much hotter at the beach club - so slather on the sunscreen and be careful in the sun. The boat ride there was beautiful - about an hour from the harbour. The only downside was the boat ride back at about 3:30pm. It was VERY choppy. My teenagers and husband loved it but I was uncomfortable (yes they say I am a wimp). All in all an excellent excursion!

The place is beautiful. Crystal clear warm water. Great service. Especially want to recognize Jorge and Yuri who are basically assigned to you during your stay and accommodate every wish.
Only 6 rooms. The hotel started out as a beach party and now has a lot of day visitors who rent cabanas for the day to relax and dance the day away. 2 separate areas. 2 dance floors. Good music. As a guest of the hotel if cabanas aren’t rented they are free to use. I felt they do a good job separating and if you want quiet relaxation you can get that as well. Rooms are nice enough. Ecco vibe

Now to the negatives :
1. No beach. And the bottom is rocky.
2. All the actions happens during the day and it is a lot of fun if you want it to be. But resort gets empty at 5 pm and not much to do after.
3. Food isn’t great at the resort.

We paid for VIP, however the amenities seem be the same for general and VIP. Several GA guest were in VIP. The cabana's were comfortable, and the food was DELICIOUS. The lunch we had was the best food we ate our entire trip. NOTE: please bring water shoes as the beach is extremely rocky.

We went on the Bora Bora tour to experience a nice beach since the ones in Cartagena aren’t the best. We weren’t disappointed with our selection. We upgraded to the VIP experience and I feel it was worth it.

Had a really great time at this Beach! It’s beautiful! We were lucky to have José there while we visited. We had friends that went a month before us and told us to ask for him. He fortunately found us first! He helped us get awesome photos and videos! He even helped my girlfriends pose!!! He definitely made the trip REALLY AWESOME! It was a bit pricier than we had hoped…., but compared to all the other options out there, it was worth it.
I will warn you though, that the boat ride back was absolutely AWFUL!!! The boat driver was going crazy fast and two people actually got sick on the trip back. If I were the Bora Bora staff, I would fire those people because it can definitely ruin the experience and make people give bad reviews.
Anyhow, if you’re going there, ask for JOSE! He’s the BEST!

I can't focus to the great things about the Bora Bora beach club, because I was traumatized by the boat trip back to Cartagena. It was windy and the sea, agitated. We all were very shaken. They prepared capes for everyone, they knew that it will be like that. I understand that you go to the sea, so you can't expect not to get a little wet but people should be made aware before they buy the trip, that due to weather conditions, the trip might not be for "the weak".
It was not fair of them not to give all the heads up necessary for an informed and assumed decision

We are sorry for your bad experience and isnt good at all to read your opinion but, all Islas del Rosario tours have the same sea conditions, its not a Bora Bora thing..on the other hand you are right, we should be more specific about the trip back to cartagena, it might be quite agitated some months of the year..sorry again

I highly recommend you bring Colombian pesos (money) with you so you can properly tip those that work on the island as well as making extra purchases they have available.
We did take a boat ride to the island (recommend sitting in the back of the boat) Once we arrived we were greeted by all smiles and a "house" drink. We had reserved cabanas prior to arriving and were happy with the views we had (worth paying a little extra) The cabanas were a great add to lounge and just take in the scenery.
We had a lot of fun here celebrating our friends bachelorette party. We drank, danced and mingled even with the locals who worked here 🤫 lol. They do have a DJ who played a mix of music. He takes requests too.
On the shoreline, beach area, there was a young man selling live crab and lobster. He was affordable, so we bought (paid with pesos) all of the crabs and lobsters he had (decent sizes.). He prepared them for us, and I must say there's nothing like freshly prepared seafood. We also purchased a meal from the restaurant. I chose the whole fried fish, coconut rice, small salad and 3 tostones with salsa on them, it was delish! It comes with dessert and a drink. They have several food options to choose from which includes a dessert and drink (non alcohol) We pay extra for the coffee with milk.
Apart from the cabanas, dancing and restaurant, there is an older man who sells handmade local style jewelry of beads and shells etc. he is more than affordable (paid with pesos but gave him a tip with american dollars.) A woman who was also there in a separate area selling handmade jewelry but these were different and pricier (paid with pesos)
Massage is available for an additional fee and recommend for relaxing even more. The young woman who massaged us was good and reasonably priced (tipped her with American dollars)
We did tip each server, bartender, and the DJ separately from our bill only because we had some who were more attentive than others and they made our experience that much more special. (we also work in the hospitality industry so we know how this pay thing works 😉)
All in all, we would definitely come back and recommend.

My wife and i attended Bora Bora beach resort as part of our Honeymoon holiday.
Simply a wonderful day. This however went badly quickly on leaving the island. The attendant swiped my debit card for costs while on the island Twice"...Telling me that the first pass of my card did not work... Well it did, I have tried for the last month to contact Bora Bora sent multiple messages, filled out there refund form etc etc.. It would appear that this is a typical scam with them targeting tourists on the move,,,,

Take care when paying as you leave

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Bora Bora's decision to sail during a severe thunderstorm. I woke up at 6:00 seeing thunder and lightning. I assumed the trip would be canceled but they tell us to go to the pier and see what happens. We had no desire to stand in a thunderstorm hoping the boat would sail or spending our day on a beach in the luring rain. It was not only reckless but also put the safety of passengers at risk. Despite the dangerous weather conditions, they refused to allow passengers to reschedule or provide any form of refund. This complete lack of concern for the well-being or comfort of their customers is absolutely unacceptable. I would strongly advise against choosing Bora Bora for any kind of sailing excursion, as their disregard for safety and customer satisfaction is truly disheartening. We lost 1,300,000 cop ($300 USD). Oh, I'm writing this at 1;30pm and it's still raining.

When I pay for “VIP”, I expect an excellent service and experience. At the very least, kind service and communication as well as a peaceful day.

We also had a great time at PAUE Beach Club the day before when our chartered boat docked at that club, so I was expecting an amazing experience at Bora Bora.

But there is much to be improved!

* After paying over $300 for the Bora Bora Beach Club before our trip, we get to the pier (which was confusing to get to bc we were not given the pier number) and were told we have to pay more money in taxes and fees. After paying for this excursion online, I did not expect to be charged again at the gate, and this should be communicated before we arrive. I did not have cash! Thankfully, one of the people I was with had just enough.

* When we arrived, all the staff was lined up to welcome us! It was really nice but that’s where the gestures of service ended. Then our bags were immediately searched - for what exactly, I don’t know. “Welcome hi! Thanks for coming. Now open your bag for me to search you.”

* Food - this was the only place on my entire trip that I had bad food. Drinks were excellent though!
* empanadas - terrible
* Paella - terrible
* Burger - terrible
* Fried plantain chips - delicious
* Garlic shrimp - delicious
* Frozen coffee with Bailey’s - delicious
* Rum punch + pina coolada - de lisp is

* The water was the perfect temperature, beautiful, and felt so good but many rocks. Extremely rocky - sometimes I thought I found a good spot without rocks and then I would stub my toe. Wish I had swim shoes

* After eating, drinking and napping, we were starting to have a great time. Music starts to get jumping and we go out to the water to swim and enjoy. It was about 2:30 pm and we thought we would be leaving at 4 pm. Two minutes after getting in the water, a staffer is yelling at me from the sand to VAMOS. Huh!?? Without any warning, we were told to get out of the water and to get on the boat. Very rushed. Why not tell every passenger the schedule and time we leave so that they can manage their time? It was so sudden. They should give a warning of 30-40 minutes before it’s time to leave. It was very off-putting to be yelled at to VAMOS when we thought we had at least another hour. Again, terrible communication and service.

TERRIBLE ENDING
* We paid our bill + great tip for the waiter and were being rushed out. We were moving quickly bc the staff was rushing us. We get to the door to exit and we’re blocked from leaving. Turns out, we needed a card to leave, signifying that we paid our bill, but the waiter hadn’t given it to us. We did not know that were supposed to retrieve something from him. Doorman was not bilingual and could not to explain to us what we needed to do to exit. Imagine the moment of panic when trying to leave to catch a boat back in a foreign country and your exit being blocked and not knowing what we are being told to produce to leave. Finally we found our waiter and got the ticket to leave. The doorman was RUDE and UNHELPFUL. There’s no one nearby who seemed to care or help . Maybe they thought we were trying to leave without paying??? As if we are criminals?? We were a bit panicked bc it seemed like the boat was leaving at that moment given how much they were rushing us and we didn’t know how we would get back to mainland if boat left.

* It was a terrible ending to what was supposed to be a relaxing VIP experience.

* The ride back was extremely rough. The boat was SPEEDING back to the pier and it didn’t feel super safe. I was sitting in the worst seat at the very back. I was getting slapped in the face so much by the salty sea water that I couldn’t open my eyes and had to put my towel over my head to stop the water from hitting me. I read about the roug ride back in the reviews so I expected this and it didn’t bother me so much as some of the other passengers. But the ride back is not for the faint of heart. Again, this is a service. Clearly other reviews mention the rough ride. Why continue to service in this way?

COMMUNICATE BETTER AND TEACH YOUR STAFF HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE. I won’t be back and Bora Bora will not be included in my recommendations to friends who plan to visit Cartagena.
