Bobby was a great driver. He was interesting to talk to and knew a lot about his country and its history. I'd happily use this company again.

The shuttle was perfect but we were a little confused because our driver didn't say anything to us so we weren't very sure about everything.

Rila lakes or Vitosha mountain (6 Replies)
I'm going to be in Sofia from 27th-30th May and thought it would be good to spend one day hiking outside the city. Would it be better to go to Rila lakes or Mount Vitosha? Which has the better views? What is the weather likely to be like at the end of May? How easy is it to get there? Are the routes clear without a guide? It looks like Rila shuttle runs between Sofia and the rila lakes chair lift on weekends in May. Is the chair lift running though?

Better views definitely from the Rila Lakes which are still frozen and snow covered. The lift there will start operating from June 1st. Vitosha is more feasible. Clear path from Aleko hut to the Golden Bridges, and some patches of snow still existing if you go for Mt. Cherni Vrah.
