Firstly half the beauty of this place is the drive along the canyon to get here. Amazing scenery as the road clings to the cliffs. Best to take the road from castellane. Once here you can when in season take boats into the lake, and also down into the canyon. Sadly out of season this is all closed. Best time... More

Great park with outstanding canyons, curvy roads with great views and variety of wild nature. Worth to see if you planning your trip around Provence,

We took a road trip from Aix En Provence to visit the gorges. Our drawback was it was winter's first cold days and with fog. My son had been there during the summer and wanted to show us this beautiful place. It is beyond gorgeous with aqua mountain water and we cannot wait to return in the warmer months for... More

Don't miss this if you are anywhere near Marseilles or Nice. Zoom up the motorway and set aside the time. Many people just do it from the bottom, taking a pedalo from Lac de St Croix, but really you have to do the hard yards to get the best from this. So many hikes to choose from Sentier des Pecheurs,... The Gorge du Verdon is already very well known & many people drive down one side or the other as part of a routine journey to/from the South of France, from Moustieres to Castellane or the reverse. However if you have time take a 2 hour detour from this road (with a few stops to admire the views) round the... More

Absolutely spectacular landscape. There are many great views to be enjoyed by car on the circular scenic D23 route originating (and returning to) La Palud sur Verdon. Make sure to go clockwise unless you prefer driving mostly on the cliff side of the road. If you arrive from Moustiers-Sainte-Marie this means driving through La Palud sur Verdon and then taking... Over the years we've visited a number of times and never been disappointed. The views are spectacular, just take time to stop and savour it. To do it justice you really need to set aside a whole day to enjoy it but it's really worth it.

What a wonderful day out! We began our journey from Manosque and travelled through the lovely towns and villages right out to Moustiers Sainte Marie where we had lunch. On the way we detoured at Riez to Sainte Croix de Verdon to take in the beautiful lake views and the delightful village and took a smaller road to Moustiers. The... More
