I was in the area and wanted to stop by. Parked in the neighborhood at the bottom and walked up the shaded cobbles. There is no cost. Amazing to consider the bike racing that occurs on these narrow, steep cobbles. The chapel at the top is lovely and quaint. One thing that struck me is that the chapel has zero reference to cycling. It could be anywhere ! Glad I stopped to see a piece of bike racing history.

I’ve cycled up this, so thought I’d visit on a walking day. Lovely short but steep walk from nearby town parking. Great view at the top. Great to watch other cyclists labouring up the cobbles instead of me

Nonetheless, a great historical and scenic place to be at.
The steep stairs are cool to climb and the little church above and the views are worth it.

We live here, so this "wall" is very familiar to us all. Sometimes we walk from our home in the Dender valley to the top, and that's quite a climb! If you're in a good shape you use your bike to climb to the top, as all big cyclists did!!
But than , you're rewarded with a fantastic view, and on a clear day one can even see the buildings of Brussels.
After all that exercise , you don't need to stay thirsty or hungry: There's a great place to buy a drink or eat something, right on the top, called " 't Hemelrijck" . It's open 7/7, since more than hunderd years, so it will be difficult to miss it!

An opportunity you will not miss as an amateur rider. Historical climb. Start downtown at the river and do not stop until you reach the Chapelle at the top. Diehards can ride on to the Bosberg, straight on and follow the arrows RVV on the road. Do not forget to buy a Mattetaart, famous local pastry, at Olav's, the best in town, at the left hand just before entering the market place. Feel the pain and enjoy.

Having watched the Tour of Flanders for many years we wanted to see the wall for ourselves. We chose not to cycle but to walk up and we ate at the Hemelryck at the top. We did witness one brave soul cycling up but after a long ride the cobbles were too much of a challenge for us.

Iconic place for any cycling fan who wants to give it a go and climb one od the famous hills of de Ronde. In my case the cobblestones were wet after rain so the experience was perfect!

the steep cobbled climb from the lovely market place up to the chapel is well known to fans of the Ronde van Vlaanderen (tour of Flanders ) one of the hardest one day cycle races on the calendar and one of the five "monuments" .
Brilliant view from the top and a bar partway up if you need a rest!
(Non cyclists probably wouldn't understand the 'excellent' rating!)

Having a “Mattentaart” at the top of the wall (the chapel) and enjoying te view - after cycling or hiking uphill- is one of the best ways to experience the wall of Geraardsbergen.

Start in the centre next to the water and make your way up! There is a pub close to the top where you can try the local beer too!

Go back down and use the shortcut in the middle of the way up to reach the park via the centre.
