You need to have done some exercice to conquer the Wall of Geraardsbergen, let it be by bike or on foot, the hill is quite steep.

Cycling Must Do

Iconic place for any cycling fan who wants to give it a go and climb one od the famous hills of de Ronde. In my case the cobblestones were wet after rain so the experience was perfect!

Not a fan of cycling

Nonetheless, a great historical and scenic place to be at.
The steep stairs are cool to climb and the little church above and the views are worth it.

Cycling fans will love this

I was in the area and wanted to stop by. Parked in the neighborhood at the bottom and walked up the shaded cobbles. There is no cost. Amazing to consider the bike racing that occurs on these narrow, steep cobbles. The chapel at the top is lovely and quaint. One thing that struck me is that the chapel has zero reference to cycling. It could be anywhere ! Glad I stopped to see a piece of bike racing history.

the steep cobbled climb from the lovely market place up to the chapel is well known to fans of the Ronde van Vlaanderen (tour of Flanders ) one of the hardest one day cycle races on the calendar and one of the five "monuments" .
Brilliant view from the top and a bar partway up if you need a rest!
(Non cyclists probably wouldn't understand the 'excellent' rating!)

I’ve cycled up this, so thought I’d visit on a walking day. Lovely short but steep walk from nearby town parking. Great view at the top. Great to watch other cyclists labouring up the cobbles instead of me

Buy a Mattentaart and go up!
Aug 2018 • Friends
Having a “Mattentaart” at the top of the wall (the chapel) and enjoying te view - after cycling or hiking uphill- is one of the best ways to experience the wall of Geraardsbergen.

Start in the centre next to the water and make your way up! There is a pub close to the top where you can try the local beer too!

Go back down and use the shortcut in the middle of the way up to reach the park via the centre.

Iconic hill from Tour de Flanders bikerace
Apr 2017 • Couples
Anyone who's a fan of bikeracing, should visit and walk/climb this hill. Only then you'll get an idea of the effort it requires to race to the top on a bike!

Cycling legend
Mar 2017 • Solo
The wall of Geraardsbergen is probably the most famous part in the tour of Flanders, the most beautiful cycling course in Flanders, according to the Flandriens. Cycling fanatics would of course go up the hill by bike. I instead chose to walk up, and with the stairs (one is not allowed to walk along the path followed by the cyclists) it is a fairly short climb. From the center of Geraardsbergen one can go up and down within an hour. On top, there is a chapel and a cafe, and a modest castle which seems to be a restaurant. The views over the environment are pretty nice. The information panels along the road give an impression of the mythical status that this hill has for cycling fanatics.
