I live in Marcoola. I walk the beach 2 or 3 times a week. Get the tides right and it is beautiful. There are jelly fish from time to time and blue bottles but this is a beach not some man made attraction. The beach is patrolled at Marcoola Surf Club and Discovery Beach so safe for families. Also great food to be had minutes from the beach at Surf Air and Bulli Cafe.

Now this is a beach for either strolling, jogging or just flopping down onto.
There is a patrolled section so always swim between the flags. The surf isn't that daunting and I dare say the surfers won't find this area that much of a challange. But for the sheer size and stretch of beach you would be hard pressed to find a better beach. Plus at this time of year it wasn't wall to wall people jockying for a spot as you have kilometres of sand. Close to other resorts and inspite that its a quiet beach.
I would avoid the trashy shops but would go to Bulli restaraunt that isn't that far away as the crow flies. Well worth a visit to both areas.
The beach itself is clean and just a joy to stroll down (or up) with the person you love.
Forget wakiki beach in Honolulu! This beach makes Wakiki look like a sand trap.

Stunning beach. Clear water, great waves and clean soft sand. Not over-crowded (end of March) and there are Life Savers too (current can get strong). Another Sunshine Coast Beach that is perfection.

Safe, spotless and perfect for all the family. Terrific safety facilities, right in the heart of the front too. BBQ's available with loads of parking close to the shops and restaurants as well as the impressive surfing club. We will definitely be back!

I'll admit to a certain local bias as I live in Marcoola, but it's an absolutely beautiful beach! A long uninterrupted stretch of fine sand, and usually much quieter than a lot of the other beaches on the Sunny Coast. There are lifeguard patrolled sections at both Marcoola and Mudjimba, be careful going in the water outside these areas because there can be some quite strong currents at times, including rips.
May to November you may well be able to spot the whales migrating as well!

I had spent about a month in the area 11years ago on my first trip to Australia and loved the beach and the area. Coming back a decade later it is still a great option, not too busy, much quieter (of course it’s winter right now so all beaches are kinda quiet), and close to restaurants, bars and attractions. Love the water here and the drop off to deep water out a ways, the waves always break well for diving through.

Very nice beach. Water is warm. Is very shallow , kids will enjoy it but have to be carefully because currents and waves are strong. Beaches are patrolled.

Lovely beach to walk and not very crowded at all. It is patrolled so good swimming spot. We stopped in for a quick drink at the surf club then continued to our hotel. Was a very nice ending to our day.

Beautiful beach only a short pathway from resort. Lifesavers & flagged areas for safe swimming and lovely for long walks. Get up early & take a beautiful sunrise photo, it's worth it
