Brand new bycicle road all arond the lake, 30km, worth to rent a bike. Huge selection of water sports available: surf, sailing, kayak, kenu, wakeboard, etc.

Ride around the lake with a bicycle in just a few hours. Only 30-33 km.. Some can do it in two hurs, or chose a more relaxed full day enjoyment with a several stops for bathing, eating, etc. Can easily be reached from Budapest by car or train.

Just in between Budapest and the lake Balaton.
Must see Velence and the Gardony quay.
In Velence there is a fab view from the tower.
You can also see the birds flying high in the sunset from rhe birdwatch or just bike around the lake.

Nice lake. But a bloody awful tourist destination, way to over crowded. Bar's and restaurants, average. But the completely missing service is all over present. No smile, no small talking, its more and more typical for the most tourists areas in Hungary, it's more than normal that the personal are responding almost as if it was an insult to speak to them.

Me and my boyfriend occasionally come here to hang out. It is a nice place but there are sooo many people here. The most annoying thing is that even though the sign shows that cycling is forbidden 🚫 in some places people still do and pedestrians especially couples could not walk side by side because they have to move..
The beach is quite nice 👍🏻.
The food depends on where you go inside. It’s a nice place but it is crowded. 😕

I have been here many times over the years whilst living in Budapest. The hotels are ok, but they have done a lot of work on the public beach and it now great for kids. Not sure I would spend a week, but a weekend or a day at Velence is great

For: Friendly, beautiful place for families, teams and/or cyclists. Hills on the Northern side are excellent terrain to have excursions, there are also possibilities to light a fire (assigned places only of course!) Many restaurants, snack bars can be found around the lake. Good to create a schedule in advance as there are many events as well especially at summer.
Against: The weekends of summertime are overcrowded, kind of "20 hours of rush hour", hard to find place for parking and also for having sunbath on the beach. At noon almost no free tables, please make a reservation before arrival.

If you wish to be on the side of the lake, that is the closest place to visit from Budapest. You can go around with a bike too, but nice to walk on the "beach " side as well. Lot of sport activities and nice Hotels with Spa's.

Is there a fee for entrance?

Hi ! There are several free beaches around the lake - e.g. Velence Korzó (sandy), Agárdi Szabadstrand (grass). You can also enter the numerous camp sites for a small fee (4-8 Euros), and can use their facilities like showers, toilets, etc.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi, I'm planning to visit Lake Valence on 22nd September 2018 to spwnd the weekend with my boyfriend. I'll go from Budapest. Can anyone please suggest what is the easiest way go from Budapest Keleti/Ferihegy to Lake Valnece? I would also like to know about accommodation in Lake Valence. I am interested in beachside and scenic beauty. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi I can't help you with your transport issue. About the accommodation, I would use the internet for searching between the many hotels in the area. I've have been staying at the Juventus hotel, easy access, very close to the lake and panoramic view. The hotel is"only" average and the "standard" Hungarian service. Good luck.

Hi all, I'm planning a day trip to Lake Valence from Budapest, in the 2nd week of September. Can anyone please tell me if it is okay to visit Lake Valence during that time or will it become cold then? Moreover, I would also like to know if I can go and come back on the same day and also the entrance fee. Thank you in advance.
