The author of Cyrano de Bergerac created a sumptuous theatrical decor for his dream home. The charming French and English gardens delight the visitor with their romantic walks. A veritable «poem in stone and vegetation», the Villa Arnaga has to be explored or reexplored :In 2014, you'll have the opportunity to admire the renewed gardens similar to the ones imagined by Edmond Rostand with their box wood embroideries, their topiary bushes, their plant vases, their mirror like pools. The "poets' corner " will surprise you with its lattice work. In a word a typical French garden with its perfectly geometrical design !Open daily from April 1 to November 3. From April to June and September to October 14 : 9:30 to 12:30 and 14h to 18h . In July and August : 10h -19h . From 15 October to 3 November : 14:30-18h

What I particularly liked was the absence of signs saying "Do not touch". Visitors are treated like intelligent adults and allowed a good amount of free access to what has been a lovely family home and an interesting garden with modern touches. A couple of hours should suffice to see all the essentials. Read up a little about Edmond Rostand... More

Utterly delight villa with some English style and formal French gardens. Lovely house full of interesting memorabilia of Edmond Rostand (wrote the play Cyrano de Bergerac). God explanatory information sheets in English

Edmond Rostand created this mansion. He wrote "Cyrano de Bergerac" and he was very rich. If you want to know more, the villa will give you some more detail, in particular on his later work "Chantecler", but it does not give you a feeling of knowing him better. Perhaps the prize panel in the house is the one that shows... More

A trip to Cambo les Bains was our Plan B, but the visit to this Villa was the big attraction and it did not disappoint. Either the house or the gardens would be worth the entrance fee - both are a bargain, and a splendid way to spend an afternoon. We had arrived by train - which meant a steep... More

A formal garden with spectacular views of the mountains in the distance The house was very interesting for the architecture , particularly the stained glass and it offered a cool place from which to view the gardens. If you have an interest in Cyrano de Bergerac or other of Rostand's works I am sure you would be even more fascinated.... More

On the way back from St Jean Pied de Port and dropped in. Spectacular gardens and fascinating house to view. Very amusing insight into author and house architect. It's well worth a visit

Even if not a big fan of Rostand, his innovative and beautiful house is worth the visit. Gardens and fountains lovely as well.

The Villa, the home of the author of Cyrano de Bergerac, is a charming Labourd style villa, elegant inside with a mixed sophistication of Paris at the time and local style. There are written guides in each room in several languages (including English) that help explain the villa, and the family. The gardens, French formal, and English are lovely. A... More

The gardens at Arnaga are truly worth a visit on their own but the house itself (designed by Edmond Rostand of Cyrano de Bergerac fame) is interasting with a great deal of appeal

Very pretty place to spend a quiet time away from the coast. The gardens are gorgeous and offer a very pleasant walk. The house is amazing, very well preserved and organized to learn a lot about the writer of Cyrano de Bergerac as well as his family. The only sad point is that it is not allowed to take pictures...
