Cycle tour around stunning nature reserves

It's an opportunity to enjoy the fabulous countryside and connect with the nature around the Fyledalen Nature reserve, full of birds of prey, herds of deer and stags with sightings of wild pigs. The routes take you alongside the river valley, with some woodland climbs and easy roads through quiet Swedish villages where you can grab many photos of churches, traditional old cottages and magnificent grand houses.

Before you visit this place do read up about Christine Hoff and how the castle and grounds came about, wonderful walks around the lakes, and some lovely natural wooden sculptures, I believe by the same person who did scenery for The Lord of the Rings. Check opening times

Be sure to go and have a look at the Totum poles in the front garden near the carpark... all handpainted and all telling a story... The grounds in this beautiful park are breathtaking ... great place to go for a walk and appreciate the wildlife... lots of butterflies and sheep :) Beautiful bridges with great photo opportunities... back in the main grounds you can visit the castle which , while small is interesting. Coffee shop when we were there did not have much as in the height of the tourist season and they had sold out of most things. If you enjoy the outdoors then this is well worth a visit!

The trails are worth a visit any time of the year and really are beautiful. Grounds are well tended and its a great birding spot. In .... march (I think) we saw white-tailed eagle, and smew as well as all the expected species- and raven which is always nice to see. The manor house/castle is open during the summer, with rooms including original furnishings and decor making for exciting visualization of what it would have been like in previous centuries. There is a cafe and shop in the castle as well- with some great books on offer and a good selection of educational/science kits for children. Unfortunately I think this may have been the last summer that the manor house is open to the public, which is terribly sad, as it is a joy to be permitted into these buildings of local heritage - adding value for society and the community.

The castle is relatively small, but has several rooms with original tapestry and furniture from baroque times. The garden is nice and has a bridge and a pavilion built from crooked parts of trees

Nice park walking with kids was difficult with all the poop lying around of the big animals specially in the autumn with all the leaves on the ground hard to miss it especially with kids. I will stick to Södrasen national park next time.
