All aboard for a great day out at the Caledonian Railway in Brechin! The railway runs steam and historic diesel trains during the Summer months as well as selected dates during the year.A not for profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers, the railway society was established in 1979 to return trains to the historic Brechin branch line. Now trains run on the restored 4-mile long line through the pleasant Angus countryside from the stately Victorian terminus station in the heart of Brechin to the beautiful country station at Dun.The railway's Day Out with Thomas and Santa Specials events are popular with families and an exciting host of evening events provide a night out with a difference.Trains can be chartered for special occasions such as birthdays or weddings. Coach parties and groups welcome.Keep an eye out for special events and days out during the year. We hope to see you boarding the train at Brechin Station soon!

We visited the railway with our three daughters age 3, 5 and 7. All were delighted with their trip on the train. The train was warm and cosy. A piper came through the train while we were waiting on Santa and he certainly kept the kids happy playing his small pipes. The tickets were reasonably priced and everyone got a... More

I have no hesitation in recommending this little trip. We all loved it, well apart from the kids, one baby who didn't really know what was going on - apart from being part of the hundreds of photos that were getting taken and a three year old who loves Santa but does not like seeing him in real life. We... More

I have been left disappointed this Christmas with the cost of my children seeing Santa and in return getting a cheap selection box in return, the price doesnt bother me but as they are both under 5 a toy or book would be better than unhealthy sweets, which they will probably get in abundance from family members, so it is... The Branch Line Society held an event here is September to take rail enthusiasts to parts of the network not normally covered by a passenger train. We also had the opportunity to ride on locomotives not normally used. Everyone at the railway was very friendly and made us all very welcome. The scenery was beautiful and the locomotives looked great... More

We took my two year old nephew to see Thomas he enjoyed his day out, but i feel there could be more to see and do. We also feel there could of been more of a Thomas theme on the train.
