Castles of history and beauty
Jun 2019 • Solo
Visited this castle twice. 1st time a wedding was happening and could not visit. Returned another day. Received a great informative tour in English by a young guide. The tour was over 1and half hour. View from the top was excellent as it was a bright blue day. Could See a long way. The BBC radio room was full with news article still on the walls. The grounds was also very clean and beautiful.

Cruelly Chateau from the 11 century
Jun 2019 • Friends
This chateau is lovely to look at from the outside. Tour in English interesting but very little left inside the Chateau which is now being used as a reception area so fridges and seats not what you would expect to see. Some of the architecture interesting as it has been changed over the centuries. Some of the staircases are difficult so not suitable for everyone.

Litle gem of a place.

We thought, when we decided to pay this chateau a visit that it'd be just another chateau. Well it is, but it has an extra and unexpected side. Entrance fee very reasonable and the tour was in English and lasted about 45 minutes. Apart from the usual chateau bits (dates back to 11th Century) the surprise (for us) was the existence of the area used by the BBC following the Normandy landings and they broadcasted to London from. This has much memorabilia and period-artefacts which made it far more relevant to modern eyes and ears. Well worth a visit and well done the municipality for doing such a splendid job with it.

Group Tour

The chateau is closed in September but Stephanie agreed to open especially as there were more than 10 of us.
It's not a huge place but a lot of history and a great way to spend a couple of hours.
Can't understand why there isn't more publicity for the BBC radio connection. Very interesting.
Excellent guided tour in English
Thank you Stephanie.

Terrific guided tour
Jul 2017 • Family
We had an excellent morning in this village with about 1-1.5 hours at the Chateau. Our tour ended up with just our family. The guide (a student who's name i forget) was excellent. His english was good and his knowledge of the building and the history was excellent. Only area where he wasn't 100% was the BBC radio exhibition, but the display information was more than adequate. Cost very reasonable (5€ i think).

Good To Walk Around

Beautiful little "castle" to look at in Creully. There is a museum with paid admission but I didn't partake. There is plenty for the eyes to see on the outside, especially along the ramparts. Certainly with a half hour stroll after a meal or to enjoy the outdoors.

Intriguing

The chateau has a long history but has been knocked about a bit over the years. still it's worth seeing and the guide is very interesting. If you like radio or its history then this is a bit of a must. The BBC broadcast from here from D Day for many months.

A Radio Museum - Great find.

This place was new to me, I didn't know it existed. Just after D-Day the BBC set up a radio station in this Chateau to broadcast to the French, before this, French people risked their lives listening to the BBC, now more could listen as the country was liberated.
The exhibition consists of all types of very old radio equipment and for anyone interested it's fascinating. The member of staff there at the time spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about the exhibits and amateur radio techniques.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area and it was free on the date 6th June 2017.
