The George Island Trail is beautiful with a mixture of terrain. There were some wet/muddy section but we were able to find a route around. I would not suggest to hike this trail after a rainfall. The view of the Georgian Bay is beautiful. I would love to go back during the summer and go for a swim. The trail is mostly well marked, there was 1 section where we lost the trail, but found it within a few minutes. The friendly staff at the Killarney Mountain Lodge boathouse gave us a ride across and picked us up when we were done. Great and quick service!

It is a lovely hike. It is not strenuous and it's safe. It is a good trail if you are doing it with someone or solo.

We inquired at Sportsman's Inn of the ferry to George Island and were informed that it is no longer available. We were informed that "nobody goes there to hike" as the trail is not maintained, bushy and not marked. The staff at the inn said that he would not recommend going there. He directed us to the nearby Killarney Provincial Park for trails.

It’s a beautiful trail, had been very well signed in the past, but some of the signs are quite weathered nowadays. The first problem for us is how to cross the water? Luckily we found the Sportsman’s Inn has taxi service for $3 each person. The loop trail is swampy, rocky and also buggy. We walked the loop clockwise. Once you reached the south shore of the island, you will thank yourself for going through all the trouble. We got a little lost on the way back. There seems to be more than one trail on the west side of the island. With the help of gps on my cellphone, we managed to get back to the main trail. It took us 3.5 hours to finish the George Island Wilderness Trail.
