Gris Gris is the kind of place where you’d stop to admire the view for a few minutes, take some pictures and be on your way. What’s great about it is that you can have a view from above on the beach to take pictures! It’s really nice to the eye but not a beach where you would want to spend the day. It is quite windy and the sea is pretty agitated there. If you’re looking for a beautiful beach to lay on in the South we recommend you have a look at St Felix.

Visited Gris Gris several times over the years but not recently until now and it never changes.
There's a break in the reef here and the waves are quite spectacular.
On a wet grey day you can believe it does have connotations with black magic as people say it does.
There's a path down to the beach but we didn't feel like walking.
Well worth a visit.

What surprised me about Mauritius was the lack of great looking sandy beaches, even thou I had traveled over much of the island. Gris Gris was the only beach I saw that resembled what I thought I would see in abundance, golden sands and surf. Unfortunately, this beach is too dangerous to swim at. The rugged coastline is always a view that captivates your attention. If the ice cream truck is there get one, best ice cream I have ever eaten!

Visit this place while you discover the South as it is the most southern point of Mauritius. You will get very nice view over the ocean.

The views of the coast here are worth seeing as well as the short easy walk to La Roche qui Pleur. Look out for the rock which looks like a witch!

This is one of my favorite beaches!
The wind and the waves and the perfect blend these two makes this place just awesome..
The sound of the waves and the winds will stay in your sub conscious for long...
Amazing scene from the Cliff.
A visit will be memorable...

An amazing and very beautiful beach. We loved sightseeing and the place is a paradise. Too bad the sea is so rough but we still managed to experience the water and relax a little with the deserted beach

Gris Gris is an interesting natural sight when the waves crash against the shoreline with ferocious intensity. You can stand above the rugged cliffs and might even feel spray from below. The winds are often so high that any nearby trees grow with a bent angle. Access is free but I would only recommend a visit if you are nearby in the South. There are a couple of local restaurants in the area, which are perfect for lunch. As beautiful as it was, it's not a trip to be made specially or to go out of your way, unless you are already in the South.

Taking the trip down South to visit Gris Gris with its unspoilt lush surroundings and beach was priceless. The cliffs are so different to the West and North of the Island. Pity it was raining on our visit there as we could, but didn't walk the beach. Next time for sure. Then we met a puppy. Too cute. Wish I could have sneaked her home with us. Teary eyed we left.

Any good for rock / beach fishing? as I gather there is no reef and strong current...this can only mean one thing..big fishes! I'm a pro sports fisherman looking to cast far out at sea with heavy fishing gear but not sure about corals or too many rocks on the shore?
Written August 21, 2016
If you can find your way down to the small beaches between the cliffs, yes Loads of fish there. But I would say it's too risky to do so.
