どこを見ても溶岩に囲われていて、自然の凄さや強さを感じることができる場所でした。
景色も良く30分ほど歩きました。
一度は訪れるべき、おすすめの場所です。

I drove there at late February.
There is nice view and I felt the power of nature.

I walked for about 30 minutes there on a fine day.
There is an awesome place to visit.

The lava field is interesting. The reds of the shrines also stand out among the grey of the lava field.

Although a little outside standard places to visit, the park is definitely worthwhile to visit. You can do some nice walks around the park and visit the temple. Facilities are a little outdated but all the basics are available.

This park features several walking paths in a landscape formed by ancient volcanic debris and rocks. It provides great view over the still active vulcano Asama, and a stunning view over the landscape miles and miles away. This is a very different landscape and as such, a very different experience. You might need your own car to get here och join a chartered bus tour.

We wanted our children to see an active volcano and lava rocks so travelled by bus from Karuizawa, station, took approximately 40 mins and cost 1980 Yen return for the pass (children were free). Once we arrived it was an additional 500 Yen to enter the park.

It was quite a cloudy day so visibility wasn’t the best but we still got a full view of Mt Asama. The walk through the park is peaceful with the lava rocks quite amazing! There was still some patches of snow (which thrilled the kids).

There is a shrine with a viewing platform which was very peaceful.

Would be amazing to see on a clear day, still thoroughly enjoyable though.

I went there by car.
The view is very good.
A unique spot of volcanic rocks !

However, it was so windy and cold.
Maybe Summer or Autumn is more suitable.

The Onioshidashi Park (鬼押出し園, Onioshidashien) features a landscape of volcanic rocks that gives it an unique and rugged appearance. The park is shaped by volcanic sediment deposited here during the 1783 big eruption of Mount Asama.

Besides presenting the opportunity to take a closer look at the volcanic rocks of various curious shapes, Onioshidashi Park also offers nice views looking over nearby towns and of Mount Asama on clear days.

Located at the center of the park stands a temple, dedicated to the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy Kannon.

Infrequent Seibu buses operate between Karuizawa Station, Naka-Karuizawa Station and the Onioshidashi Park (two to four departures per hour). It takes 35 minutes and costs 1210 yen to get from Karuizawa Station to the park.

Went there in May 2018 and the park looks almost abandoned. So, we had the whole park to ourselves. The view was breathtaking and the rock formations very interesting. It is some ways out from the main city attractions so we took a taxi to and from this place. Taxi cost about 21k yen for a 3 hour rental that brought us to multiple places besides this.

Worth a detour. The view of Mt. Asama over the rugged lava formations is nice. After a 15 minutes walk from the parking place through the lava fields we arrived at a nice temple with an overview of the area.

Really cool and beautiful place. I went in winter but I’d love to see it in all the seasons. Recommend visiting when there is snow.
The temple in between the lava flow was amazing.
The is cafes and stalls. Not open when I was there though
