I’ve been a fan of Two Hands wines for some time and it’s great to finally get to visit their winery. Our host Rachel was excellent, walking us through their range of Shiraz wines. Their Garden series didn’t disappoint but the Ares is just outstanding!

My wife and I drove up to the Barossa valley to have a look around some of the wineries.
As we had our Frenchie we looked for a dog friendly winery and came across Two hands winery.
We were greeted by Rachel and we paid $15 for the wine tasting. We were served 8 different wines, which were great and a fantastic explanation of each wine.
Rachel was lovely and we both agreed that it was the best and most informative wine tasting that we had ever experienced.

Had a great time with Mitch, he is very informative and we learned a lot. Had SA voucher and even booking it showed wine and food platter. I assumed we would get food. Although not written in schedule. I just felt photo was misleading. Please amend this.

We made an effort to visit Two Hands as it received quite good reviews, however, Mason made it an unpleasant experience. He made way too many gendered comments and quite a few arrogant comments such as "I got voted best cellar door Host in all of the barossa". To be honest the experience was just too much about Mason and not enough about Two Hands or the wine.
Two Hands charge a $10 tasting fee which includes a glass to keep. Which is ok, however, there were other groups in the cellar door who got the fee waived with the purchase of the cheapest bottle of wine but still got the complimentary glasses. We asked Mason if we could also have the fee waived for a purchased bottle but it was not possible. I understand if this is the policy but it's a little frustrating to see other guests receiving different treatment.
The Two Hands wines on the tasting line up were definitely tasty, more so on the over $100 range. It's unfortunate that Mason detracted from the wines.

My husband and I brought our mother to visit the Barossa, and were joined by 2 great friends of ours from Sydney. Our friends were keen to visit Two Hands before they closed, so we rushed and made it with 15 minutes to spare...only to be confronted with a pompous 21 year old (who kept reminding us that he was only 21 years old) at the cellar door....who insisted we had to pay AU$10 even though the cellar door would close promptly at 5 pm. Not friendly in the least.
Nevertheless, we proceeded with the tasting...only to be reminded frequently that our host was a pompous jerk. One of our friends wasn't too keen on one particular wine, only to be scolded by the 21 year old host as perhaps needing a better palate. We were about to bolt...
...when we noticed a stash of Harlan Estate in the back display. We inquired and were told the winery was the sole distributor for Harlan in Australia. I mentioned how funny it was for us to come so far to see Harlan, as we happen to livein SoCal and happen to be on the allocation list for Harlan. Suddenly, the 21 year old host and some other members of the team took more careful notice of us. No more pompousness.
Another team member seemed to sense our dislike for the 21 year old and suddenly took over. She graciously and kindly offered us a very nice off the cuff private tasting/tour event for our final day in the Valley, but our timing was limited. We also weren't too keen on the AU$150 price per person fee involved, considering we were doing free VIP tastings at Torbreck, Henschke, Grosset, Chris Ringland, etc. Only Penfold was charging us $150, but that was for their Taste of Grange experience!
In the end, our friends also didn't feel like including Two Hands again. One of our friends ran into the same 21 year old the next day at our hotel (The Louise), and he was again reminded that he was only 21. That was the end of the discussion about Two Hands.
Two Hands has some lovely wines. But they need to better train and/or select the front cellar door staff that deals with the public.

There are many cellar doors in the Barossa Valley and the majority of them do produce great wines, albeit they may be different in terms of style and what you prefer. Over the years I would have made well into the hundreds in terms of cellar door visits and there are only a handful that remain memorable. Whilst the quality and your preference of the wines you love will determine whether or not you purchase the wines at the cellar door, from home or at restaurants it is the cellar door staff that impact on whether the cellar door visit was memorable. Unlike many of the other wineries that we visited I had only previously tried one wine style from Two Hands and they were on my must visit list for this trip. We were looked after by Mason and he was fantastic. For his young age, it was commendable how knowledgeable and personable he was. He made our afternoon fantastic and we would return because of him. He looked after three groups whilst we were there and he made all of the groups feel important, valued and that they were his focus. Well done Mason and we can’t wait to try more Two Hands wines like the one I am drinking tonight now that we are members.

We visited on a whim, the cellar door is off the main strip of wineries to the west of nurioopta, but well worth a visit. Wonderful westerly aspect over the vineyards, the tasting house is very well setup, very knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of wines

Two Hands is trying to do something different, you pay for a sit down tasting and you can only taste what they select for the day. It does not work. I wanted to try a range of their wines of the same style, that was not possible. Basically then going for a tasting at the winery was a waste of my time. It is the only tasting or wine I paid to taste in the valley. I believe two hands does have some good wines however tasting them in that way was a waste of effort l there are plenty of other great wineries to visit.

It's been a while since I visited two hands. In the past I've had a great time and enjoyed the wines and the experience. I've also recommended the winery to many people. So it was disappointing to come back and have such an underwhelming experience.
I don't mind paying for a tasting, but to pay for such a poor experience is an insult. Especially when there are so many other great options. Are the wines good? Who knows. I tasted 5 wines and most of the pours only allowed 1 sip, two at best. We were rushed through, and felt insignificant in a place that had a strong smell or arrogance. Maybe we got someone on a bad day, but I won't be back and I certainly won't be recommending it anymore.
