Hotel pick-up was on time and guide and driver both very helpful and patient. Our guide brought a telescope and his keen eye to pick out birds and animals throughout the trip for us to see up close. I also appreciated the guide for ensuring I received a delicious vegan lunch and dinner. The whole process of booking the trip, receiving confirmation and suggested items to bring, as well as the trip itself was professionally handled. I also appreciated having a smaller group for the trip, in this case we fit in a large (comfortable) van, instead of a bus load. It was by far my favorite day in Costa Rica.

Thank you for your comments about the Manuel Antonio National Park tour. We are happy to know that you consider this tour was handled professionally from the time of booking, the pickup on time, and having a smaller group for the trip. It is. We are happy to know that your guide was helpful and patient and that you were able to see some of the wildlife during your tour. Your recommendation is very important for us. We will be happy to assist you the next time you come to visit great places during your next vacation time in Costa Rica.

Kenneth was amazing he was thoughtful of each person on the tour. I traveled solo and I was scared he made me feel secure and I drove shot gun with him. He explained EVERYTHING and we tasted almost everything. When I come back I will book again and with only him... I did the volcano hot spring and zip line. It was worth every single penny....

It is great to know that Kenneth was an amazing tour guide, made you feel secure all the time, and explained everything about our country. I booked a 10 day rainforest tour with Flavio. He made everything so easy by responding to my emails, even calling me, too. My husband & I traveled July 20th- 29th. We were picked up at the airport & deliverded to our hotel, Country Inn & Suites. We had a nice dinner overlooking the pool.
The next morning we were to meet our tour guide, Johnny, from Pachira Lodge. Their bus arrived 15 minutes early & we were off thru the beautiful countryside to Tortugero on the Caribean. We stopped for breakfast at Saba Restaurant. Got the best pics of sloths of the whole trip there. Continued to meet our boat to take us to Pachira Lodge.Saw monkeys & birds on our way. Lovely lodge & setting in the rainforest. Best pics of Howler Monkeys just outside our room. An included afternoon hike with Wellies (Rain boots provided, Bring socks). This was the rainy season, but that only means it rains at night or sometime during the day. Short & then it is over. The following morning we had an included morning boat tour with Johnny in Tortugero National Park. We saw iguanas in trees, camans, Jesus Lizard, Spider monkeys, & birds. That evening we had signed up for a night Turtle Tour( Green Sea Turtles season for egg laying). We got lucky & did get to see a huge turtle laying her eggs. What an experience. It was $30 a person extra, but so worth it! The next morning after breakfast we boarded the boat back to the bus. After lunch, the bus driver took my husband & I to meet Flavio & our driver, Lolo.
They made our trip so much fun. As we rode to our room for the night, Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge, we made a stop. Flavio asked if I liked heart of palm, which I love. We stopped at a heart of palm plantation & got warm heart of palm bread ( like banana bread) & ceviche. Arrived at the Sarapique Rainforest for the amazing chocolate tour & hike. Flavio accompanied us. We were impressed with his knowledge of the animals & plants, as well as his sense of humor. After we walked next door to the lodge where Lolo had already delivered our bags.
On Thursday, we had breakfast with Flavio then all went back next door to the rainforest where we added to the animals that we had seen yesterday, bats, tucans, sloths, monkeys, hummingbirds, poison dart frogs, motmots & more & 2 hanging bridges. (including the longest one in CR) On our ride to La Fortuna, we stopped at a pineapple field, had an amazing pork lunch at a local butcher shop, went to a restaurant with tons of iguanas in the trees, & a quick tour of the town of La Fortuna. Usually Go Tours uses Magic Mountain Hotel, but it was full. So Flavio had emailed me 2 other options, I picked Montana de Fuego. It was a little out of town, but had its oun thermal springs. They left us there for the next 3 nights.
On Friday we were picked up early for a float trip on the Penas Blancas River. Just the 2 of us & our guide, also sloths, iguanas, tiger heron, anhinga, & bananas. With fresh fruit waiting for us at the end. Back at the hotel in the afternoon enjoyed the thermal pools & warm mud as well as hummimgbirds & beautiful flowers on the grounds. A huge surprise was dinner that night at the hotel. Best meal...coconut chicken!
Sat. morning relaxing, then picked up for an amazing hanging bridges tour. Along with all the wildlife & plants there was a beautiful waterfall & at the end the clouds parted from the Arenal Volcano so we could see the whole thing. We were dropped off at Paradise Hot Springs. It was less crowded than some of the others(according to Flavio), only a hadful of families when we were there. Wonderful time. We also ate dinner there. It was very nice.
Sun. morning Flavio & Lolo were there to pick us up right on time. This would be our longest travel day, but Flavio made it great having Lolo stop at interesting places. We stopped at a fruit stand & tried new things (loved rambutans), at a local stand to get great coffee & homeade cheese (a flock of green parakeets landed in the trees),at a store with fresh coconut water & plantain chips, we walked over the crocdile bridge (huge crocs) Lolo met us on the other side,& stopped on the roadside to see Cashue trees. We arrived at our Playa Espadilla Hotel next to Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Ocean.
Mon. Sadly Manuel Antonio National Park is now closed on Mondays, but we had a wonderdul day on the beach & walking near the mangroves.
Tue. Flavio & Lolo were there to pick us up for the drive back to the airport. Flavio had said we had time to stop at a souvenir factory near the airport. I have to say the word souvenir did not make it that appealing, but to our surprise it was very nice. It is a small wood shop that we had a private tour of everyone working. And they have a shop there. Everything IS made in CR & of wood that has fallen not been cut down. Great prices, too. Sadly we had to get to our plane for the trip home.
Our trip was made so easy & nice going through a Costa Rican company, staying a Costa Rican Hotels, & having Flavio, a Costa Rican share with us the love & pride that he & our driver, Lolo, have for their country & all it has to offer. We would not have had the same experience on our own or with a large tour company. Loved all of the small out of the way places only Flavio know. Looking forward to returning. Wish I could find this type of travel in other countries. Thank you Tripadvisor :-)

Dear Kay703, Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review about your experience with us during your 10 day trip to Costa Rica. We are very happy to know that the planning of your vacation went in a smooth way and that you had such an excellent time with our drivers and tour guides while travelling around Costa Rica. You definitely made a great choice by visiting the Tortuguero National Park area, since is one of the most beautiful jungles we have in our country and is full of wildlife. Also, I’m glad to hear that you had the opportunity to see more animals in the Sarapiqui area during the Tirimbina chocolate tour, the rainforest hike, as well as on the Penas Blancas River float trip from the Arenal Volcano area. The Arenal hanging bridges is indeed an amazing tour you can take from La Fortuna town and it gets even better when you end the day at Paradise Hot Springs. We are also glad that you enjoyed the private transfer from Arenal to Manuel Antonio Beach, stopping at the fruits stands, the coffee and cheese shop and not to forget the famous crocodile bridge, where you can see a lot of these huge animals. It was our pleasure to assist you this time and it will be our pleasure to help you with the planning of another wonderful trip to Costa Rica in the future; please let us know when you are ready to return and we will be here to make our best effort in order for you to have another memorable experience!

My family of 4 (2 adults + 2 teenagers) just came back from a 10 day trip to Costa Rica and we cannot express how impressed and pleased we were with Go Tours! My kids just graduated, and we wanted to give them a trip of a lifetime and Go Tours did just that! Vladimir customized a trip just for us that encompassed everything we were looking for. We had the opportunity to visit San Jose, Sarapiqui, Cano Negro, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio and some other small towns. We enjoyed waterfalls, river rafting, boat tours, zip lining, hot springs, animal exhibits, night walks, hanging bridges, waterfall repelling and private beaches! We enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals in small towns, learned about the Costa Rican culture, and met so many nice local people. From day one, Vladimir, Flavio, Goofy, Wali, and other drivers were always prompt, entertaining us with their talks on their culture and country, and willing to always stop to see sights along the way. We were never bored! We saw crocodiles under bridges, iguanas, monkeys, bats, sloths, searched for toucans/macaws, visited coffee and cocoa farms, walked in rainforests, visited a local farmer's market where Vladimir let us sample local drinks and fruits, and experience so much of the beautiful culture of the people through these unplanned stops! We would recommend Go Tours whole-heartedly if you want a customized tour that you will never forget. We made friends with all of the people at Go Tours, and we were already talking about coming back next year and booking another trip with Go Tours! Thank you Vladimir, Flavio, and friends for arranging a trip we will never forget! It was Pura Vida in so many ways!!

Dear twinsrus2016, We are very happy to hear that your 10 day trip to Costa Rica was great and that Go Tours and its staff were able to provide you with the trip of a lifetime you were looking to have for tour family. When it comes to customize a trip Vladimir is one of the best, due to his many years of experience as a tour guide, which is the key to become an excellent travel advisor that will make sure you would have the perfect itinerary with everything you are looking for. In your case you had the opportunity of visiting some of the must see destinations of Costa Rica, such as San Jose, Sarapiqui, Cano Negro, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio and did the most popular tours in each area with a great balance of adventure tours like the Sarapiqui River White Water Rafting, the Arenal Zip Line Tour Over Waterfalls and the waterfall rappelling; as well as some nature tours like the Cano Negro Wildlife Tour, the Monteverde night walk, the hanging bridges, the rainforest walk and visiting some secluded beaches. Also by visiting other small towns you have the best chances to enjoy our delicious home-cooked meals and learn about the real Costa Rican culture. All those unplanned stops is what it makes the experience with us so different, since we provide our customers with private transfers from the hotels and airport, we have the flexibility of making those stops looking for wildlife, tasting different food, local drinks and of course for you to take as many pictures as you can so you can keep lots of memories that you can share with your friends. It really was our pleasure to assist you and we will be more than glad to help you planning your next family vacation in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Our tour was described as a hike through the rain forest to the Arenal Volcano with a bilingual expert on the area. 2.5 hour drive each way.
First words from our tour guide, Marvin, were “you know it is a 4 hour drive each way”. After he stopped to get his breakfast, check air pressure in his tires and talk to a friend at a store, 3 stops that had nothing to do with our tour, yes it took about 3 ½ hours.
Upon arriving at the rain forest our expert tour guide wanted to hike 1 out of the 4 trails available and be back at the car in 20 minutes. We sent him back to the car and did our own hikes.
After hiking Marvin suggested that we visit the EcoReserve he had a special price of $25 cash only no credit cards. We check the internet and it was $16 and yes they accept credit cards. We told him what we found and he blamed the EcoReserve place for giving him wrong information.
Lunch and Dinner were included. He took us to the worst part of town he could find and we had the same buffet dinner as we had for lunch, both looked and tasted like reheated leftovers.
On the way to the mineral spa, which was also included, Marvin proceeds to tells we were not going to the nicest mineral spa. He knew of a better mineral spa but we would need to pay more to go there..really?
Marvin asked us to do a review for Trip Advisor. I guess he missed the fact we called him out on trying to rip us off, we sent him back to the car (he was suppose to be the Expert on the rain forest) and he missed our feedback on the food. Marvin handed me a card that said CRUNIQUE.com, Costa Rica tours. So obviously Go Tours Costa Rica contracts out to whoever is available? What a waste of time and money. Save yourself a huge disappointment and avoid this company at all costs.

Dear Luvtravelingxoxo, Thanks a lot for your feedback, we really appreciate you letting us know about your one day tour to the Arenal Volcano with Marvin and please accept our apologies because your experience was not as good as you were expecting it. We wish we had known about this while you were still in Costa Rica, because we would have addressed the issues immediately. We learned in many years of customer service management in the United States that all companies make mistakes at some point (even the best and biggest companies), but the big difference between the good and the bad companies is the ability of the good companies to turn a bad experience into a good experience, which we didn’t have the opportunity to do; we even contacted you after you posted your review and we haven’t received a reply from your side in 3 weeks. This being said, we consider the title of your review is a little unfair, because first, you didn’t give us the opportunity to correct the problems, second, you did the tour and enjoyed it despite of the extra driving time, and third because we have provided a superb service to thousands and thousands of other tourists; one unsatisfied customer out of several thousand who have being super happy is not be enough reason to “avoid a company at all costs…” In regards to your first comment, the non-stop drive from your accommodation in Guanacaste to the Arenal Volcano area where your tour took place, it is actually 2.5 hours. However, the way we operate our tours by doing different stops for you to see more of our country and to break the driving time, makes the drive last 3-4 hours approximately, depending on how much we stop and see (several of the members of this travel forum had mentioned that they really liked the fact that we operate our tours that way, they find it more interesting and fun). The other stops you mentioned Marvin made are completely unacceptable to us, and that’s why, he is not doing services for us any longer. My apologies because we confirmed these stops indeed, all of our drivers are supposed to have the vehicle ready before the tour and have had breakfast by the time they pick up our customers. In regards to your second comment, we normally hike just one of the rainforest trails which takes about 1.5-2 hours. That hike was done and we confirmed this with the park ranger’s station, because they have a tally sheet with the times when the visitors enter and exit. Please note that the rainforest hike was done as promised, we never told you that we were going to hike the entire park with you. We don’t go to the other trails for safety reasons, as you had noticed, the other trails are not as well maintained, are more muddy and more steep which maximizes the risk of an injury. As to the visit to the Eco-Reserve, Marvin was just trying to be nice, for you to get the most out of your day, and offered to go there. You are right, the entrance fee is $16 per person if you do just the main walk, but if you add the other attractions of the park with a guide, it costs $25 per person. Also, just for the record, there is no such thing as a “worst part of town” in La Fortuna, here you are exaggerating. I know it is a humble-rural Costa Rican town, as many we have here, but there are not bad parts of town like in the big cities (the readers of this travel forum can read about the Town of La Fortuna and confirm this); I’m very sorry if it didn’t look like a super modern city like the ones in developed countries, but that’s what we have here and tourists love it. In regards to the incident about the mineral spa, we consider Paradise Hot Springs as the best option available in the whole Arenal area, where you get a real hot springs-relaxing experience (some of the other “hot springs” parks are more like waterpark-party places, with loud music, waterslides and lots of bars). The 2 other places Marvin was talking about we only offer them upon the customer’s request; because we consider them way over-priced (the cost is 66% higher than the one we include in the tour). Our guides are not supposed to change the arrangements for the hot springs, that’s another reason why Marvin will not do any of our services anymore. My apologies for the inconvenience about this matter too. Last but not least, we don’t contract “whoever is available” like you said. Sometimes we have to call for the help of other sister companies for various reasons, this is a normal practice for us or ANY OTHER TOUR COMPANY IN COSTA RICA (I don’t know of one single company in this country that have not hired another company for help, when they have workers out sick, have vehicles in maintenance, etc.). We have used CR Unique in many cases when we have needed help and their service has been provided to our standards. Unfortunately, Marvin is not one of the CR Unique reps that we have authorized to take care of our customers and he was sent to do your tour anyways, with this we are not trying to pass the responsibility to somebody else, but we already had a few words with the CR Unique’s owner for this to never happen again. Please let us know the next time you are visiting Costa Rica, our General Manager himself will make sure that you will have the best time in our country, to cover for the bad experience you had this time. We wish you the best in your future trips.

Go Tours: How tour travel should be. It’s like visiting friends, in a foreign country, who want to show you everything their home has to offer. We never write reviews, but we had such a wonderful time in Costa Rica and we know that Go Tours played such a huge part in our trip being so memorable. If you’re like us and you enjoy learning about the culture, the surroundings and all that a new place has to offer, then go with Go Tours.

When we were doing research for our trip, we looked at several options (ex.: booking our own hotels and activities and renting a car or using public transportation to get around or booking with a tour company). When researching companies, we came across several that would book the hotels for you and get you from point A to point B. This all seemed to come at quite a price for something you could pretty much do on your own. Thankfully, we happened to stumble upon Go Tours. Our journey with them began when we enquired about one of the tours offered on their site and asked if they had one that included a particular place we wanted to visit. This is when we started to learn just how special this company truly is. As difficult as this will be, we’ll try to make this brief.

You can take a look at their site and use it as a guideline. Essentially, you let them know where you want to go, what activities you’d like to do or what you’d like to see and then they’ll do the planning. Erick, the guide who planned our tour, got back to us within 24 hours with an itinerary for us to look over based on our interests. At this point, it’s all open for discussion. In our case, Erick took into account all of our requests and we were very happy and excited about how our trip was laid out and all of the activities he had planned for us. Their flexibility allows you the opportunity to make it YOUR trip.

Our first full day (of 10) in Costa Rica was a day where we would be travelling from San Jose to our first destination. The beauty of Go Tours is that they turn what could be a long drive into an experience, particularly if you’re game for anything. Our first day was probably one of our favourite days. Our drive turned into a series of adventures that were not included in our itinerary but were at no extra charge. We visited a coffee plantation, tried a bunch of fruit grown locally, stopped to see dozens of hummingbirds and a beautiful waterfall, tried new foods and drinks (as suggested by Vladimir, our guide) and the list goes on. This, as we came to learn, was the norm for this company. Throughout our stay, we had the privilege of having Vladimir, Erick and Flavio as our guides at different points. They were all very knowledgeable, had a great sense of humour, were always on time, were flexible (ex.: making unscheduled stops, often for pictures, when requested), and always made us feel at home or like we were visiting with friends in a foreign country. Our drivers were fantastic too! We always felt safe with them behind the wheel and made us happy with our decision not to drive ourselves. They were also very patient with our broken Spanish and Lolo, in particular, always tried to interact with us, even if it was through our guide.

We know people who visited Costa Rica around the same time as us and we were so excited to share stories when we got back. In speaking with them, we quickly came to realize that so many of our memories were created by the amazing people at Go Tours. The things we experienced, the wildlife we saw, the things we learned were unmatched. We cannot say enough about this company and strongly recommend them to anyone whether it’s for a day tour or to plan your whole trip.

A huge thank you goes out to Vladimir, Erick, Flavio, Lolo, Wali and Marvin for making this a trip we will never forget! You deserve all of the accolades!

Dear Kay703, We really appreciate your kind words about our company and the services we provided you during your 10 day trip to Costa Rica! It is great to hear that Erick was able to find the itinerary that suits you best in order for you to learn about the Costa Rican culture while travelling around the country. Our main goal is for the traveler to have a memorable experience when visiting Costa Rica and those stops that our tour guides and drivers did for you are the key to get to know Costa Rica at its best; such as visiting a coffee plantation, stopping at the hummingbirds observation point, La Paz Waterfall, as well as searching for wildlife on route; I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed that day. Knowing that our staffs made you always feel safe and like you were visiting friends makes our day. It will be our pleasure to have you back in a near future and we will be more than glad to arrange another unforgettable Costa Rica vacation for you and your companions.

The forest was refreshing. There was natural habitat everywhere. We saw different kinds of animals and creatures on the hiking trail . The staff was very knowledgeable and professional. After hiking and zip-lining a very tasty and nutritious meal was served. If you are an outdoors person this will be the perfect activity for you while in Costa Rica. This was an adventure of a life time.

We were looking to visit Costa Rica, and after searching the internet and checking Trip Advisor, we sent inquiries to several large and small tour operators. Right from the beginning Vladimir (Go Tours) was personable, responsive and dedicated to tailoring a trip to meet our family of 5’s interests. After several back and forth emails/calls to fine-tune the trip to exactly what the family was looking for (where Vladimir would advise with his pro’s and con’s to help us select our options), we settled in on our 9 day ‘Trip of a lifetime’. After that, Vladimir attended to everything. He was even accessible via phone when we had a few questions during the trip. ( A real comfort when you don’t speak the language). The entire trip proceeded flawlessly, and the entire family had an absolutely great time. Everything was well-organized and above expectations. Guides and drivers were warm, friendly and went out of their way to make stops and show us ‘hidden treasures’ along the way, that we surely would have missed if on our own. We very much enjoyed Omar, Walli and the entire crew, who truly had a love and knowledge for their country, and a passion to share it with us. The highest recommendation possible for Vladimir and Go Tours.

Dear Gary P, I’m very happy that after searching the internet and checking Trip Advisor, you were able to find us while you were looking to visit Costa Rica. It is very gratifying to know that you decided to choose Go Tours Costa Rica after contacting several large and small tour operators. Vladimir is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable travel advisors and tour guides of our company and as you mentioned, he is always personable, responsive and dedicated to tailoring the trip to meet our customer’s interest. It is great to hear that you and your family had a trip of a lifetime during your vacations in Costa Rica and that everything was well-organized and above expectations. The best part of having the private transfers from/to the different locations to visit around the country is the flexibility that our drivers and guides (such as Omar and Wali) have to go out of their way, in order to make different stops and show you all of the great natural and cultural non-commercial things, so you can experience the real Costa Rica. Please let us know the next time you wish to travel to Costa Rica and we will be more than happy to help you with the planning of another experience of a lifetime!

We used Go Tours based on the uniformly high TripAdvisor reviews for the company; we paid nearly $1,500 for 3 tours, each with four people, and we were extremely disappointed by the value. Long before our trip, we contacted Go Tours and asked for advice about which tours would make the most sense given our itinerary. The response that we got was not helpful, as it was not not at all geared toward our itinerary. For example, we explained that we would be in Tamarindo (on the Pacific Coast) for about one day and Go Tours came back with a recommendation for a tour going to Nicaragua, a drive of a day or more and not at all feasible for our schedule. We also found that Go Tours' descriptions of tour locations was inaccurate, dramatically understating the amount of travel time to the destinations. Notably, the tours that we took were only arranged by Go Tours through subcontractors, even though the website conveys the impression that Go Tours itself conducts the tours.

Each of our three tours were subcontracted with different local companies, and differed considerably in terms of quality, as detailed below. Notably, when problems did arise, Go Tours provided no support whatsoever.

1. Zipline/rafting "combo tour." We were picked up at our hotel at about 7:30 am, but lost a couple of hours driving around to pick driving to pick up other participants. Go Tours told us that we would go to Braulio Carrillo Park (and even that we would do the aerial tram); in fact, both the rafting and the ziplining take place at the Serpaqui River, quit a bit north of Braulio Carrillo, near where Highway 4 passes over the river. In other words, it is a long drive from San Jose -- and we spent way too much time on the road. We thought that the rafting was absolutely terrific. The guides were good and made sure that everyone had lots of fun. However, we found the ziplining to be subpar. There are a dozens of ziplining places in Costa Rica, so there is no need to fall for GoTours puffery about this one being "the best." It isn't. The equipment and ziplining towers feel dated and, after a few segments, we were already looking at our watches out of boredom.

2. Costa Rica Snorkeling and Sunse Sail Tour (Tamarindo). Go Tours told us to drive to the Barceló Langosta Beach to be picked up. No one was there and the staff at Barceló had never heard of the tour. The hotel staff graciously helped us contact the GoTours guy to track down our transportation. A minibus eventually arrived but we had to wait for a while and we then drove around to various hotels to pick up other passengers. We then were taken to the beach not too far from our hotel in Tamarindo, so we could have saved a lot of time waiting and driving around in a minibus. We took a motorboat out to the Marlin Del Rey, and took what is basically a "booze cruise." The trip was set up for afternoon; this is a terrible time for snorkeling as the water is murky at that time with limited visibility. As a result, we did not see anything while snorkeling. However, the boat ride was fun and we saw a turtle and a shark while on the cruise. You should note that there is zero attention or guidance on safety issues; for example, no one explains about life jackets, and no one even checks to see if all the guests come back on board after swimming/snorkeling -- you are completely on your own. This may or may not be an issue for you. Pura vida, I guess.

The big issue for us was when we got back. Guests were taken back to the beach in two parties of motorboats. We were in the second party. When we arrived, the minibus was gone. We had no way to get ahold of anyone. We had to track down a taxi (and wait about 30 minutes) and, of course, pay for the cab. It would be one thing if I had paid $20 through Groupon, but this particular trip was nearly $400 for our party. Leaving us stranded is simply unacceptable.

3. "6 in 1" tour in Arenal. The Go Tours local subcontractor (Pura Vida in Fortuna) is very good. That said, there was a LOT of time wasted and, as a result, when we got to the hot springs (the final stop on the tour), it was already dark, with extremely limited artificial lighting. As a result, we were left in what was essentially a dark, fancy (but warm) swimming pool. Also, we were simply dropped off at the hot springs and it would have been nice to have had someone at least tell us a little bit about the place.

----
There are many superior tours available in Costa Rica that are not available online. (We took some very good ones through our hotels on days that we did not have Go Tours events.) We were lured in paying quite a bit of money because we thought that we would have much better support from a tour company.

Dear snarkus04, Thank you very much for your feedback, your several comments made us realize that we need to improve the way we explain the operations of certain tours, because it can cause confusion as it happened with you. I’ll take my time to explain every aspect of your comments: In regards to your comments about us not providing the correct recommendations, please allow me to explain, because your case is a little different than most travelers to the Guanacaste/Tamarindo area: In your case we consider you a smart traveler to Costa Rica, why? Because you did your homework about traveling here and found out before you came, that even though the country is small it takes a long time to travel from one touristic destination to the others. You did travel around the country in order to see the main destinations found on the internet, and to see all of those things that make Costa Rica a famous destination: the waterfalls, the rainforests, the wildlife, the good white water rafting, etc. That is not the case with the vast majority of people who travel to the Tamarindo/Guanacaste area, most people who book their vacation there, they assume that because the country is small, one could get from the beach resorts to the main touristic destinations in just a few minutes, but as you already know, that is not the case. The tours we offer from the Tamarindo/Guanacaste area are for those people who had booked their entire vacation on the beach resorts, but want to see everything you saw during your travels around the country. As you noticed, the Tamarindo Beach area is very good for a beach vacation, but if you only stay there, you miss the real beauty of Costa Rica, therefore, we sell our tours from Guanacaste for people who book their whole vacation there, even if it requires a longer drive to the main touristic destinations. We’ve done tours from Guanacaste over the past 8 years, I’ve guided hundreds of tours from that area myself and had never had a complaint about the driving time, why? Because again, travelers want to see everything you saw during your trip. This being said, in your particular case we couldn’t recommend a tour other than Nicaragua, because every other tour we offer from Tamarindo you had already done at the best locations of the country! Besides, the drive to Nicaragua is not as long as I can tell you where told; it takes 2 hours approx. to get to the border where the tour starts (not an entire day as you said) and then from there, we start hopping from attraction to attraction, which are shorter drives, but during those drives you get to see many things along the way which makes it worth it (this is the same case with the other tours, where we show our customers a lot of our country on those long drives and people appreciated at the end, because that’s the whole purpose of traveling, seeing and experiencing new places). On the Nicaragua tour for instance we stop at the town of Liberia for breakfast, you get to see the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano from the distance, the Orosi Volcano from the distance, the “picturesque” border, the Lake Nicaragua and its 2 volcanoes in an island and the Catarina crater lagoon; people like this tour because it’s only a 3.5 hour drive in total to the furthest part of the tour, but they get to see a lot and they get to visit a new country in one single day! As to your numbered comments, here are the answers: 1. Zip lining/rafting combo tour: You seem to be upset because you had to stop to pick up other people for the tour, just to be clear, you purchased our regular group tour and any group tour that I know of around the world, stops to pick up other tourists from the different hotels. If you wanted to go in a private vehicle just with your companions, you should’ve told us and we would’ve been more than happy to arrange that type of service for you, but of course, that type of service costs more whether you book it with us or any other company. My apologies if you were under the impression that we were going to take you to Braulio Carrillo National Park, but we NEVER said that we were going to take you there. As our website says, we drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park on the way to the rafting and zip lining adventures, but we never said that a hike or any other activity was included at the Braulio Carrillo Park, please check the detailed inclusions on your payment form and you will confirm this for yourself; same with the Aerial Tram, we normally do the zip lining at the Aerial Tram Park, but it does not says anywhere in your inclusions that a ride on the Aerial Tram was included. Just to keep being clear, the Aerial Tram’s zip lining tour didn't have more space for that day (you came for Christmas week, the busiest time of the year), so you were taken to another zip lining location that is just like the one at the Aerial Tram’s Park (we reserve our right to switch it if necessary). Thanks for the nice comments about the rafting at the Sarapiqui River; I guess not everything was so disappointing… The Sarapiqui River is only 1.5 hours from San Jose, but it takes a little longer at the time you came because of the Christmas traffic. In fact, it is in our opinion as tour guides, the best class II-III white water rafting of the whole country, that’s why we took you there. Why didn’t we take you to a better zip lining location? Because the one we took you to, is one of the best available close to the Sarapiqui River. The zip lining tour you did is considered as a good standard zip lining tour and you are right, there are much better zip lining places in other parts of Costa Rica, but not close to the Sarapiqui River where the best rafting is. We offer this tour as a more economical way of experiencing both adventures on the same day (I’m guessing that’s why you bought it), but we NEVER told you that it was the best zip lining. If you would've asked us about the best zip lining in Costa Rica, we would've made the recommendations accordingly as a separate trip. 2. Costa Rica snorkeling and Sunset Sail tour: In regards to your bad experience with the snorkeling-sunset tour, your travel advisor Flavio deeply apologizes for the inconveniences caused; he made a mistake for which we take full responsibility that lead to the problems you had. By mistake, he set your pickup place at the Barcelo Langosta Resort 1 mile away from your place, when he should’ve just told you to walk the 200 yards from your place to the departure point. What happened is that he was working on another customer’s reservation along with yours, and forgot to change your pickup place (even though we are all extremely careful and detailed oriented when we do this kind of work, this was one of those mistakes that I think we all make at the office at least once in our lives). The visibility of the snorkeling tour was not the best not because it was done in the afternoon, but because it was done on a very windy day (when it’s windy, the visibility for snorkeling is not good anywhere in the world). You are exaggerating about “being left stranded”, because there was a person at the beach coordinating the transports; as well as the small motor boat operator, you simply had to wait a few minutes for the next vehicle to arrive, as the rest of the people in the second motor boat had to do it. 3. 6 in 1 combo tour in Arenal: Here you are not very specific as to how a lot of time was wasted; I’m guessing that for you to go to the beautiful La Fortuna Waterfall was a waste of time, as well as going to the amazing Arenal Hanging Bridges and the volcano hike. Just to be clear to other members of this prestigious travel forum, when you do a full day combo tour packed with activities, there is one that obviously has to be done at the end of the day, in this case, the hot springs is the best option to leave it for last, so the participants can relax in the hot pools after a full day of activities. Just for the record, ALL companies in this area who operate this tour go to the hot springs at the end of the day. If all you wanted to do was to get to the hot springs quickly, you should have told us since the beginning and we would've gladly arranged a trip for you to go just to the hot springs. We also appreciate your nice words about this tour, again, I guess not all was “extremely disappointing" Thanks again for your comments; we will do our best to explain to future clients how the tours are done to avoid confusion.

I'm confident that our Costa Rica trip would not have been as memorable without Go Tours! Our tour guide Flavio and our driver Wali were amazing! Super helpful from the very first email ever sent. I never felt pressured just well informed. I told him what we were interested in doing while there and he planned the entire trip. Even when I would make last minute changes there was no problem. He was there the minute we walked out of the airport and I felt like I already knew him. It was refreshing knowing there would be no stress in getting a rental car and figuring out directions to our hotel with the language barrier. We could just sit back, enjoy all the scenery and learn a ton from Flavio as we drove through the rainforest. We spent the first half of our vacation in the rainforest Arenol area and the second half in Guanacaste at an all inclusive resort on the beach and everything was perfect. Tours, tour guides, accommodations, food...everything! I've already recommended Go Tours and Flavio to be more specific to family and friends! In pricing everything ahead of time and piecing it all together it really wasn't all that much more $ to go through Go Tours and they took care of every detail. It made the trip all that much more enjoyable and relaxing. So worth it!!!!

Dear alarvin, Thank you very much for your kind words; we are very happy to hear that you had a great time with Flavio and Wali during your Costa Rica trip. Flavio and Wali are an excellent team; both of them have a lot of experience in tourism and thanks to that knowledge, they always help our customers have the best possible time during their vacations in Costa Rica. You made a great choice by letting Flavio take care of the planning of your trip to Costa Rica, because as you mentioned that way there wasn’t any stress in getting a rental car and figuring out directions to our hotel with the language barrier (which is what difficult the stay of most of the visitors to our country, that decide to arrange everything on their own). The reason that everything ran smoothly during our trips, is because we are locals that know the area very well and will make sure to recommend you the best places and attractions to visit (not necessarily the more commercial ones), in order for you to enjoy your trip the best way and experience the real Costa Rican culture. The idea is for you to sit back, enjoy all the scenery and learn a ton from Flavio or any of our tour guides, as you drive through our beautiful rainforest, as mentioned in your comment. We are glad that you had a great time in the Arenal Volcano and Guanacaste Beach areas; those are definitely great places to do a large variety of one day tours, or just relax at the hotel. Please let us know the next time you plan to visit Costa Rica and we will be glad to help you with another great experience!
