An update of my prior review of this art museum. Previous review I wrote that a cafe with kittens was an attraction for me but bc of Covid this no longer existed.
Although it is a cute place, I hope they would bring it back to help to foster homeless cats.

Our family loves cats so whenever we hear of an unusual place with cat themes in Japan. This place has always been one of our favorite places in Chiba. Every year late spring,we receive notice the exhibition will be held. Nothing, but cats. Although it is a family oriented place, it maybe
boring for young children since it is an art museum.
They have various art works, pottery, photos, paintings on display. Several of them are available to us to purchase. Entrance fee is 800 yen per adult & 400 per child. Drinks are optional.
The place is very difficult to find, in the middle of forest & rice paddies. It's about 45 mins by car from Narita Airport. Public transportation maybe nil. The exhibition is held only once a year during late spring - early summer. Every year it is different. Advise you to check with the museum first. Held Only on the weekends. This year it ends in July.
The garden is lovely, they have a tiny cafe, a new thing this year. Of course, cats greet you at both the cafe and garden. This year, we spent about 1 hour playing with kittens running around their cafe. They serve ice/hot tea & coffee with cat cookies. This is extra charge.
Can't wait till next year to see the grown up kittens again!

If you are in this area during the time this event is held, I highly recommend it to cat lovers only.

I did not specify only for cat lovers. This event held at
the Matsuyama Garden Art Museum every spring is to
attract visitors who enjoy cats and cat themed art. The
museum has other art works which I have never seen.
The place is small with a beautiful garden. No restaurants
but a small area with tea and coffee served. Questions on Transportation and entrance prices should be made to
Matsuyama Museum.
