Snorkelers Paradise
Jun 2021
This beach was a snorkelers paradise. I didn't use any of the amenities as they charged a high price for everything, so I just laid my towel on the sand and went snorkeling. There is a small portion for swimming, which is kind of frustrating you can't swim the whole beach. But they are protecting coral so I understand. There are some great coral areas that you can swim to. I saw so many fish species and even saw a few sea snakes. The snakes were kind of frightening but once you realize how gentle they are and not bothered by you it's kind of soothing to watch them. The beach is pretty clean. The water was gorgeous even on a cloudy day. This beach is accessible from town, we rode our bikes but I saw people that did walk here. Furuzamami Beach is a must especially for snorkeling.

The beach u think of when u hear "beach"
Jul 2020 • Couples
Really liked this beach. No waves, great for snorkeling to see some coral reef and fish, and there's 2 food shops with lots of lunch options, drinks, and ice cream bars. Good beach to lounge around, leisurely swim, and do tours/activities. Not crowded, fun for families, with friends, or solo.

You can get a blue sheet for free to sit on the beach, and there's rentable parasols, chairs, life jackets, snorkeling goggles, flippers and floats.

There are activities you can sign up for right there, which are kinda short but they're fun. One is a photo shoot with mermaid tails to wear on the beach if that's ur thing. 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♂️

They also have SUP, fly boards, tubing, a tour to see sea turtles, and more. We chose an "uninhabited island tour" which was ride to a huge, beautiful coral reef off an uninhabited island (the ride there, free swim, and ride back was 40 min. for 3,000 yen/person). Make sure not to step on or touch the coral reef!

Over rated , filthy run down amenities
Sep 2019
Well I was expecting a world class beach.
The beach and water is great. However, the amenities such as the toilets and showers where dreadful. The men and women’s toilet were covered in urine and stank.
The showers were run down and 300 yen for a 3 minute shower that didn’t work.
The sun beds and umbrellas were 1000 yen each.
It was a rip off paradise and overrated
There were fish to see around if you are snorkeling as the water was clean at the beach, unlike the amenities.
I have been to better beaches in Brazil, Greek islands, Hawaii, Australia and Portugal without all the rip off stuff, and clean amenities.
The Naminoue Beach in Okinawa was better organised and less a rip off. Not a picturesque admittedly but at least it was honest.
A good place to swim and snorkel but overcrowded, unclean amenities and rip off side shows.

Great snorkeling

This is a super fun and clean beach with life guards and roped off swimming area. There are plenty of rental options ranging from umbrellas and snorkels to jet ski rides and tours. The snack bar has typically Japanes food ramen, curry, and soba etc.

Truly a Must-Go beach on Zamami
Dec 2018 • Family
On one dry and sunny day amidst a rainy week during the off-season in Dec 2018, all 6 of us, young and old, journeyed from Tomari port in Naha to Zamami island. After a rather tiring 30-minute walk from the Zamami jetty (we're urbanites), the awesome and secluded beach welcomed us. As it was off-season, we had the beach all to ourselves (at least for a good one hour). The water was crystal clear and cool, with good waves rushing to our feet. We walked the length of the entire beach picking sea shells and exploring the rocks. We had fun that day!

Perhaps the only deficit was that the one and only shop was closed, and so, there's no beach umbrellas nor beach towels. But I can imagine what it would be like during the tourist season.

The best beach on Zamami
Dec 2018 • Couples
We went during the off season. Beautiful warm weather and clear blue water. Take sandals for sure. Much of the beach is covered in bits of smooth coral. You can walk on it but it is easier with footwear.

Exquisite, and good snorkeling
Dec 2018 • Friends
Several other people told us this was the best snorkeling spot on Zamami. We loved it ourselves. The turtles that day apparently were on the other side of the island though.

longest widest beach on zamami
Sep 2018 • Solo
Among the nicest and longest beach on Zamami island!! This is probably one of the first beach you'll visit upon your arrival, you can easily walk there , once at sea port go right and then follow signs(at the begin there is a stiff slope but it 5 minutes later enjoy a nice downhill to the beach!from Sea port there is also a bus cost 300yen but bus schedule is not that frequent !The beach itself is lovely and wide, there is a little kiosk bar and a couple of shops where you can get all your snorkeling gears! You'll get to see some fishes but not as many as in other parts of the island !

Nice beach for snorkelling
Aug 2018 • Couples
The beach is very beautiful in a lovely scenic place with cristal water!
The reef is now protected because many of then is dying due to the contact with people...probably people touch it and so it started to dye...when we were there we didn’t saw not so many fishes but it really deserves a visit...you can almost see coral fishes 10 from the shore!

Wonderful Beach
Jun 2018 • Family
We took the ferry from Tomari harbor to .Zamami Island which took two hours on a comfortable boat. I purchased round trip tickets online and went to the terminal early to pay for the tickets (with credit card). The ferry was a short 5 minute walk from the ticket office. Once on board, there isn't much for food/beverage options. There is a vending machine (so what else is new in Japan..haha). The toilets were cruise level in cleanliness.

To get to Furuzamami Beach from the end of the ferry ride is very simple. There is a bus that has the sign "Furuzamami Beach" written on the front adjacent to the harbor building. I believe it was 300 yen each way. You have to pay by cash and must be exact amount. The bus ride was short.

At the bus stop there is a facility for showers and bathroom. The facilities were clean. A short walk led to the beach. We borrowed an umbrella and 2 lounge chairs for 2000 yen. It was well worth it as there wasn't much shade.

The beach is extremely pretty. There is a small limited place to go swimming. Some see that as a drawback, but if it saves the environment for future generations, its worth it. Facing the ocean, if you walk to your right past a big rock outcrop, you will find another beach. I went during low tide so it was accessible by foot. That said, the lifeguard advised me to turn around because the water was rising. I'm pretty sure I would have been ok, but I didn't want to argue with the lifeguard. their land, their rules. I respect it.

Unfortunately due to the ferry schedule our time on the beach was limited to about an hour. Obviously we did not want to miss the ferry and be stuck on the island. So we made sure to be on time.

The ferry was about $40 rt and well worth it.
