Small museum but very informative. They have little audio guides for people who don't speak or understand Japanese. Lovely insight to a beautiful island. There's a cafe near the museum with good food as well!

Awesome context for why and how this island made the World Heritage site list. High quality private audio guides for in depth review/absorption of the various exhibits. Altogether, this is a wonderful tribute to the story of how humans and nature can coexist.

Very interesting history of the magnificent Cryptomeria Japonica (Japanese cedar) forests and the incredible conservation on Yakushima
