Easy hike and amazingly beautiful

Even when it's raining cats and dogs, you're 4 months pregnant, have never done a similar trail and end up being soaked to the bone. Do this one or regret it! This trail alone would be reason for us to return. Otherwordly beautiful, and our tourguide Steve was incredibly knowledgeable about the local vegetation, the history of the forest and... More

This was one of the two main natural sites to visit while on Yakushima Island. It was a great hike despite the terrible, rainy weather. How nice this place must be when the sun is shining??.

I came here for the Mononoke Hime forest, but actually that part is only a small portion of the trial and there are so many other places along the way that is more beautiful. It's like walking around the Mononoke Hime forest for a whole day! Highly recommended, even inexperienced hikers can do it, just wear proper hiking shoes.

Lovely, well-maintained trails with multiple hike lengths available. We walked to Yayoisugi cedar very easily with a toddler in the baby backpack.

So beautiful but the track can be treacherous. Yakushima rains a lot so the grounds were slippery so be careful. But do not miss this. The moss covered grounds were beautiful and mystical, really spectacular.

The place was also an inspiration for the movie "mononoke hime" so it is really a pleasure to arrive at this island. The place was magnifique! Went here for summer and it is a perfect weather.

Very easy trail in the "jungle" for everybody. If you are fit you will do the whole tour in few hours (3h). If you have time and you are fit, you can also hike up to Jomon Sugi. If you are lucky you will see monkeys!

The valley has three hikes for all fitness levels; the short route which takes you over a wooden walkway past a few cedars, the medium route which takes you through the forest floor, past a few trees and over a river, and the long route which is a bit of a climb but finishes at Taiko-Iwa and gives one of... If you have little time in Yakushima and wondering "should i do "Shiratani" or "Arakawa". DO "SHIRATANI"! It's far far far much better
