Terrible and not worth your time

Bought a season's pass here, rode most of the season, and deeply regretted it for the following reasons:

1. Most important, the snow quality is horrendous. Poor snowfall means it opens late and closes early for the season. No snowmaking equipment and only natural snowfall in an area that doesn't receive much snow meant ice mixed with dirt was the norm. Even after a major snowstorm, the slopes were shockingly icy, thanks to the poor grooming practices.

2. Dangerous grooming- what they called a terrain park was seriously hazardous. The geometries were off causing most skiers and snowboarders to have serious wipeouts on very small beginners jumps.

3. Broken lifts. For the main part of the season, the lift connecting the two parts was broken, leaving one to ride a dilapidated, dirty bus.

4. Crowded. Made worse by the total lack of any backcountry, and very few runs. The slopes are packed with novices.

Overall, there is very little in the way of fun to be had here. It's dangerous, the snow is dirty and icy thanks to no snowmaking equipment and poor grooming, and crowded on the weekends with out-of-control beginners. There are significantly better conditions to be found at Muziho Highlands and Osirakan on a powder day.

I will never be back and wouldn't recommend it under any circumstances.

Went there for my first-ever ski/board trip in Nippon and I will definitely be coming back soon. Cool place to just try skiing or snowboarding -- for the experience and street cred. Their website provides all the information about lift tickets, gear and wear rental, as well as promos especially for those who are on a budget. I would've given them 4 STARS for 2 reasons only: (1) no Wi-Fi [had no data signal on my AU], and (2) no detail about their food like if they serve Halal food or what have you and they seenzoned me on Fb Messenger [UNCOOL!!]. So why 5 STARS for me ? Because of Colt, the elderly guy at the ticket/rental building. He was the only guy who could speak English and helped me out with the logistics from paying the rentals to hooking me up with the gear and wear! Without him, I would've cared enough to leave 3 STARS just because of reason number 2 alone.

We went to Kokusai ski area today for our first ever snowboarding lesson. We were a bit late due to heavy snow and traffic (we took the bus) but our instructor Kaori was still happy to have our lesson once we got there. She was fantastic! She sorted all our hire equipment and got us through the basics real quick on a small slope with no other people despite it being a busy holiday. She took us up the mountain for the awesome views and down one of the bigger beginner slopes and helped us feel at ease the whole way. We learned a lot in one day and are ready to practice on our own thanks to her guidance. Ps the views are spectacular. Only downside is the last bus leaves at 5:30 but it gets pretty cold by then so get there early to get the most out of your day. Also the bus took 2 hrs from sapporo station so make plenty of time to get there. Oh and get the 4hr lesson as 2hrs flies by real quick.
