ちょっと遅かった訪問

矢掛に行くので梅で有名なお寺ですが、2月中旬～3月上旬が見ごろで少し残念。矢掛の町から少し車で走行し、急な坂を登った場所が駐車場(４～５台)で歩いて降りる途中にある石段を登った処がお寺です。樹齢200年超の「臥龍梅」ですが、時期を逸した為垂れ梅を見ましたが、これも時期的に今一歩でしたが、来年2月に再訪してみたいです。

梅の木

「臥竜梅」で有名です。竜が臥せている姿に見えることからこう呼ばれているそうです。根元の幹が太くて芸術的に曲がっていました。紅梅です。ほかにも、しだれ梅が見事でした。

臥龍梅

梅が有名な真言宗御室派のお寺です。
枝垂れ梅など10本以上の梅の木がありますが、圧巻は臥龍梅、樹齢200年を越す盆栽のようにごつごつと曲がった幹の八重の梅でした。
おかやま旅ネットや矢掛観光ネットでも紹介され、2月の祝日には20人ほどの方が鑑賞、写真撮影されていました。
写真撮影には、臥龍梅が建物の日陰にならないお昼から3時頃までが良さそうです。
今年は1ケ月以上早く開花したとのことで、月末の梅まつりに花がないことが心配です。
